Re: ***mile loggers - week of 12-17-07***

Hi jb! I didn't have much time to poke around this weekend, but finally found the threads this morning. My log is supposedly migrating now, so I haven't seen it yet.

I'm back to falling behind on the challenge... only did 3.15 miles yesterday (bored w/walking on the TM and had SO much other stuff I wanted to get done!), and this morning's run was so miserable--after staying up too late and eating poorly--that I gave up after a mile. It will be a challenge to not let that become a pattern over the next 2 weeks.

Tonight is pick up DD#1 at the airport at 1:24 a.m., so I'm taking tomorrow off. We have appointments for haircuts, and may do a little shopping--or just sleeping! Should be fun. I hope I don't have any trouble with the roads, though.

Anyone else find their way here yet?

At last I found you guys!! Not much good is being said about this site so far but I am trying to be patient. My log is completely lost as I had to sign in as a new user. The email address that I used didn't work so I had to just go in and sign up again and my screen name was still available so who knows what happened. I am not that computer literate to know what goes on behind the scenes. I don't remember by miles logged for the December challenge, but I will see if I can remember on my own.

I did get a couple runs in. Yesterday I completed D2 of W8 so I ran 28 minutes straight 2 times now. I feel pretty good about that.As I am writing this a lot of funny stuff is happening with the keys and the other keyboard keys don't work right. I hope the bugs get worked out. Barb

Re: ***mile loggers - week of 12-17-07***

well, finding this trhread was a challenge! I looked around yesterday and had no luck. That's ok, though as I had no running to report either. I was going to run Saturday afternoon, but after shoveling the ice off the driveway I went to the hardware store to get some kind of chemical salt substance to melt the last of the ice. By the time I got back it was getting dark and I didn't have time to run. Then, we got a Nor'easter that basically fizzled. We had little snow, followed by some freezing rain, followed by high winds - but no running on Sunday. My only exercise over the weekend was shoveling snow/ice both on Saturday and Sunday.

Hope everyone is able to find this new thread and we can catch up with what's happening.

Re: ***mile loggers - week of 12-17-07***
Happy Tuesday,

jb, thanks for starting the thread and trying to get us back together.

Today I finished my week 8. I am using the treadmill and I think I am getting bored altough I am watching tv usually music videos. It seems like such a mental game, my mind keeps telling me to quit and my body says I doing okay, especially now with the HR monitor I KNOW it's doing okay!! Today I wanted to quit around the 22 minute mark and convinced myself to keep going, so I slowed down my speed a little and that helped. After couple minutes I increased the speed and completed the run. Does anyone else's mind play games with them or I am crazy???

I think I will start Week 9 on Thursday, after completing the 30 minutes I think I will stick with that and try to increase my speed in small increments until I can actually run 3.1 miles without stopping. Right now I think I am running 2.3 miles in the 28 minutes. What is everybody else planning on doing or what are you doing now?

Re: ***mile loggers - week of 12-17-07***

oh my GOSH this new website is TERRIBLE!!! Its like a bunch of highschool kids threw it together and said "lets hope it works". I just logged on here to say hi to you guys and let you know I'm still jogging. If I hadn't been part of your group before, I never would've put up with all the mistakes/errors on this site to get back here. Rrrgh!

Anyway, yesterday I completed W8D2, after taking a week-long break due to the snow and some other stuff that came up. Taking a week off really hurt me, and although I pushed through the 28 minutes, I was sore and tired halfway through it! I'm hoping to have an awesome run when I finish week 8 tomorrow.

Barb - way to go! Your ahead of me once again! By the way, does DH know about your running yet? I hope all the other people find their way back on here after this total mess of a website clears up, if that ever happens!

Eyedoc.........he knows! I had to tell him when I went to the doc for the colon issues. He was not impressed that I was willing to risk my health for running. The doc was completely on his side and we had more than one "discussion" about it. The doc told him all that could happen with runners my age, hip injury causing replacement, knee replacement, foot problems and of course my colon problem. Well I sat down with him and discussed it, I told him I would watch it closely and I am happy to report that the last two runs, there were NO issues. We'll see what happens is all I can say. I don't think I could have kept up the running if I hadn't been running right in my basement, easy access to facilities.

I agree about the site, I am just hoping it gets better. Somehow I lost all my logs, my email wasn't even registered, so I entered it again but it is a brand new account with no history. I miss coolrunning.com, it was easy to manipulate!

Re: ***mile loggers - week of 12-17-07***

eyedoc & Barb--you are doing great! Keep it up--you're almost C25K grads!

jb, sorry to hear about your ankle issues! I hope it doesn't turn out to be stress fractures! Keep us posted after you see the dr. tomorrow. And you're at 61 done on the challenge, aren't you? That's about what I have left to go! (well, not quite--57, I think!).

Has anyone heard from NuGirl? I wonder if she's having trouble getting into this site. Hope that's it, and not health reasons...

I was mia yesterday after getting DD#1 at the airport and getting to bed about 3 a.m. We didn't end up having time for any shopping yesterday, but did get our hair cut and had a nice late lunch... good just to spend time with her. But--she's at home sleeping today while I'm at work, how fair is that? She's going with us to my DH's office dinner tonight, and then tomorrow leaves to spend a few days with BF & his family. She needs to be at the airport by 6:30... good thing my running days were M-W-F this week!

I did get a little over 2 miles in this morning, but am falling further behind on the challenge. My thighs, particularly the left, are still bothering me too--I was hoping yesterday off would help with that. At least the running doesn't seem to be aggravating it any. Too weird.

Barb, I think you asked about the mental component? Absolutely, I think it is a huge factor. I often have to talk myself into continuing, and it helps me a great deal to have all of you for motivation!

Re: ***mile loggers - week of 12-17-07***

Nugirl here. Hi guys, seems like cool running has lost my NuGirl info and found my first name which was Riarunning, so I guess I will be using that until I figure out what they did. Surgery went well, but I still have no answers, I am waiting for the biopsy I just hope I get it before Christmas. You know once the holiday rolls in I won't here anything until after Christmas. I wish I knew that before I went into Surgery I would have waited until after the holidays. I thought the surgeon would have told me when I woke up from the operation but he was already in another surgery. I spoke to him on the phone and he said from his eye it looks ok but he has to wait for the report. Of course I'm a nervous wreck waiting to hear. Please keep praying I get good news.

I also do not like the new site. If you guys plan to move to another site please let me know. I don't understand why they did this? Why fix something that isn't broken?

I also have to admit I have not been eating good and I can't work out for 2 weeks I have one more week to go. I know I gained weight but I'm going to weight watchers Saturday for my normal weigh in and then I will just start again that day. When I'm stressed i eat bad thing to do. I will let you guys know when I hear from the doctor. I'm also glad I found you all again i missed you guys.

Maria

Maria, glad you found your way back here! And glad to hear the surgery went well--though I hear you about waiting for the biopsy results! We'll keep the prayers going! Don't be too hard on yourself over the eating--a lot of us are stress eaters, and you'll get yourself back on track. The holidays make it hard enough without everything else that you are going through!

jb, sorry to hear the ankle pain caught up with you while you were out shopping. What did the dr. have to say?

I knew I would not be running this morning, since we left for the airport shortly after 5... nothing like turning a 40-minute commute into 2 1/2 hrs! But it was some extra time with DD#1, who will only be home about 5 days total during her 3-week break from school, so I do what I have to to get time with her ;) IF I have the energy tonight, I hope to hit the stationary bike for a bit, then it's early to bed so I can get a run in tomorrow. Between cookies at home and at work, and DH's office party last night, I need to work off some calories!

Hope everyone has a great day!

Re: ***mile loggers - week of 12-17-07***
oh jb--I HOPE you don't have stress fractures! It's good that you're seeing a dr. who's supportive of your running. Hopefully the MRI will be negative and a little rest and some good orthotics will cure the problem. I'll say some prayers for you!

I migrated my CR log to runningahead--their log seems much easier to use than Active's--well, their entire site does. The only thing I can't really track at the moment is shoe mileage on my walks, but they're supposed to be fixing that. The walking miles from CR are included in the totals, but not the ones added since then. I don't think this site is too bad for the forums, other than having to go to active to log in and then back to CR to post, but I'm willing to go wherever the rest of the 'mile loggers' go. I do feel an attachment to CR, though, as being where I got my start on this journey! :D
