How to TURN OFF e-mail notifications (so that your e-mail box isn't cluttered with ****):

There's a box titled "Actions" to the upper left of the page but below the page headings; in the box is a link "Turn off e-mail noticfications". Click that to turn off e-mail notifications.

Disclaimer: Don't hold me to the exact titles of these things. But the premise is the same for turning off the e-mails.

I'm still trying to get the hang of things here! I don't mind losing the "Coolrunner" label, since I don't think it took more than 20 posts to earn! Oh well. I haven't tried my new log yet, but I'll give that a go and see what happens. My favorite part is the "Similar threads" link on the left - they link to discussions from 2004-2005, all of which are really worth reading! ;) New is always a bit odd, I suppose.

I just found this place. I didn't even get an email on my main (moderator) account. I got it at a backup and I still couldn't find the site. I found a link to the clubhouse and then the coolrunning community. I think they over did the tags on the main page. Peeps over 20 want a forum. :)

Seriously, this is ridiculous. Just found you guys. Hope all is well in your neighborhoods, we had quite the storm roll through this weekend. Lots of shoveling for cross training!

It took a while for me to find "home" as well. And I see I now have numbers linked to my name. Ahhh, to be 18 again.

Ugh - I don't like it either!!! Apparently I don't adapt well to change.

This is the very first thread I even opened here! I must say, it made me very happy see all the familiar names here. I know it will be ok now! I need to spend some time poking around but I have to admit that when it comes to stuff like this, I can be very resistant to change. I think I'm going to need some time to adjust.

Still haven't figured out how to browse the categories, like I did on Cool Running. Somehow I managed to get to the Multisport one, and bookmarked it, but how do I see the other ones? (like Race Reports, Basic Training, Race Together, etc)

Let us sincerely apologize for the problems you are currently experiencing with the transition from Cool Running to the Active system.

Our team has worked extremely hard to try and minimize these issues. However, any transition is going to cause some discomfort. Moving from the familiar to something new is a difficult situation. You may be asking why this transition occurred in the first place. The simple reason is that it was necessary simply to maintain the day to day operations of CoolRunning.com. The old CoolRunning.com system could no longer handle the load of the community. Furthermore, there were data security and maintenance issues that were creating an increasing strain on the system. Over the last six months, there were numerous issues of users losing data on the CoolRunning.com system, a trend that was accelerating into the New Year. By moving the message boards and running log to Active.com, you benefit from Active's more robust infrastructure, meaning no more lost data.

Again, we apologize for any problems you may be experiencing in the transition. We value your feedback and it is our goal to work with you to ensure your concerns are addressed and promptly resolved.

We have made all attempts to make the Cool Running data log migration process as simple and complete as possible. If you would like to transfer your data, please follow these steps:

1) Go to www.ActiveTrainer.com and log in with your Active Network's user account and password.
2) The system will direct you to a Merge account page and tell you that your account was upgraded by CoolRunning.com. Click the button, "Create an Account".
3) The system will direct you to the Import data page, where you can opt to transfer your Cool Running data to Active Trainer. Click on the "Transfer my Data" button to begin the Cool Running data transfer. If you choose not to import your data at this time, you can always go to the My Account Settings page and transfer your data later.
4) If you opted to transfer your data, depending on how much data you've logged in Cool Running, the process can take anywhere from 4 to 24 hours to complete. In the meantime, you can begin using the Active Trainer features and tools.
5) Once the transfer of data is complete, you will find your Cool Running data in the calendar and Shoe Tracker.

We understand there may be a bit of confusion about the data transfer from the Cool Running logs to Active Trainer. Even though the data is largely the same, it will look different in the two systems.

  • Workout type, distance, duration and pace will transfer directly over.
  • Any comments, Avg HR and Max HR will be inserted into the workout notes for those specific workouts.
  • You weight data will be imported into the Daily Vitals section in Active Trainer.
  • Shoe data will automatically populate into the Shoe Tracker, including all mileage information logged to date.

You can view historical data in a number of formats on Active Trainer.

  • Your calendar allows you to see workouts (with varying levels of detail) in a month, week and day view.
  • Click on "Reports" in the top navigation to access your Training Log, showing side-by-side planned vs. actual data in a weekly view
  • Dig deeper by clicking on the Training Stats tab, which allows you to graph aggregated stats such as training volume.

In order to stop receiving emails please log into your MyActive profile, then go to the message board discussion you were involved in. Once you have found it, you will see a link on the left hand side that says "stop receiving email notifications." By clicking that you will no longer receiving the update emails from the Active Community.

Also, we are working on migrating threads from the old site to the active site and appreciate your patience at this time. Thank you.

Sara

Thanks, Sara. For me, the real deal breaker is having to re log in repeatedly, I can't think of any other forums that still do this. I think users will tend to migrate elsewhere because of things like this, I noticed the "triathlon" forum on the main site is seldom used. After a while, people don't feel like stopping back.

At least the threads display correctly in this forum. When I ventured over to the Basic Training forum, the number of replies is cut off in mid character and the last column displaying the latest responder and time can't be seen at all. I don't even get a scroll bar to allow me to scroll over and view the missing columns. They just aren't there. Did the web team even test this site in any browser other than IE. I'm using Firefox, not exactly an obscure browser. I refuse to switch to IE for any web site. (I'm on a Mac) ]:)

What a mess.

Jroden: "the real deal breaker is having to re log in repeatedly"

I agree. I didn't even close the window, just minimized it for a couple hours and I had to log back in. What a pain!

I am the person formerly known as DonSwBkRn. This name is my original name that got lost somewhere in the CR system and I wasn't able to use it any more.

I'm also seeing the same problem, and I am also on Firefox/Mac. I tried to login (argh!) so I could reply and got this message:

"A general exception occurred while trying to access CAS. Please notify your system administrator." So I had to login again. Two logins for one reply!

I totally agree, the navigation on this site is incredibly terrible. Cool Running has gone the way of so many other great sites on the internet and sold out to "Corporate". I will be abandoning this site for the most part. I will go back to logging all my running data in my own logs on my computer. I will use CoolRunning to look at the race schedule but I will NEVER buy anything that is through Active.com.

You will be assimilated, resistance is futile.......
