will the weather getting bad I am in upstate ny. I am looking for a good treadmill for home. I have my first 15 k in the spring and I want to be ready. Can anyone suggest a brand or where to look for a decent dependable one?

Look at yard sales, thrift shops, and craig's list. There are tons of good treadmills available cheap. Most of them are very lightly used. The selection is even better in the spring (New Year's Resolutioners)

How much are you looking to spend? I just bought a treadmill last week at Costco, a Nordic Track 1500. I absolutely love it! Very solidly built, has an adapter for an ipod or mp3 player, inclines to 15% and goes up to 12 mph. It cost me $800, but from what I can tell, I got a good deal. Ones with comparable features I've found to be quite a bit more.

You might also consider getting appropriate clothes for running outside all winter - unless ice is an issue or time mgmt while taking care of kids. Lots of people in upstate NY, Canada, and Alaska run outdoors all year. The old saying is "there's no such thing as bad weather, only bad gear." Ice is an issue though, and I haven't ice skated in years.
