LOL!

Let me get this straight -- you write to the technical admin of CR. Hey, he's the TECHNICAL freakin' ADMIN, he ought to have some answers or suggestions right? But wait, he tells you he would love to address your concerns .................by sending you to his cronies at ActiveTrainer who don't seem to give a flying f&$K!! If they did, one would think they would be fielding some questions here on the transition message board. (Err wait, did you get a response from them?)

For the love of God, for those of us idiots who did not export our log beforehand, give us a brief window to save our data! The "backdoor" method is not working for everyone.

Being an IT worker I know as should anyone in management of active.com or coolrunning.com that the one thing a system administrator can do to lose their job and never work in the industry again is lose data. Anything else is forgivable, losing data is not.

Amy, now would be a good time to get out of the corporate meetings about what to do and to actually do something.

There are lots of real issues here.

1. Data transfer doesn't transfer all data over.

2. You can't enter cross-training.

3. Paying to count miles on shoes is hooey.

4. Lots of other missing features - should as weekly summaries, etc.

5. Slow, bulky, UI. I suppose this one isn't an easy fix.

6. Why didn't you active guys get involved over on the Cool Running forums a month ago. Actively posting. Getting to know your customers. Letting us know what data would be lost in the "upgrade." Letting us know what features would be lost in the "upgrade."

I suppose others have more issues. These are the ones I've observed.

I'm heading over to RunningAHEAD to see if that works for me while you guys have your corporate meetings about what to do.

Hi gskott,

We have made all attempts to make the Cool Running data log migration process as simple and complete as possible. If you would like to transfer your data, please follow these steps:

1) Go to www.ActiveTrainer.com and log in with your Active Network's user account and password.

2) The system will direct you to a Merge account page and tell you that your account was upgraded by CoolRunning.com. Click the button, "Create an Account".

3) The system will direct you to the Import data page, where you can opt to transfer your Cool Running data to Active Trainer. Click on the "Transfer my Data" button to begin the Cool Running data transfer. If you choose not to import your data at this time, you can always go to the My Account Settings page and transfer your data later.

4) If you opted to transfer your data, depending on how much data you've logged in Cool Running, the process can take anywhere from 4 to 24 hours to complete. In the meantime, you can begin using the Active Trainer features and tools.

5) Once the transfer of data is complete, you will find your Cool Running data in the calendar and Shoe Tracker.

Let me know if you have any other questions!

Bring back the coolrunning log - the Active Trainer log is useless. Runners like to track their mileage and pace on a weekly and monthly basis - as well as their personal best times at all distances run. What is a planned run? Why do I have to log a planned run and then mark I have completed it? What Einstein thought this up as a way to log runs?

I never lost data at coolrunning.com - and I never saw anyone post about problems with the site.

I have let your management team know how I feel. Yes, this is a free site - and I can easily move on.

But you made an investment as a company. For you it's real money that you are losing.....

If you have made all attempts - then you have failed miserably. Half of my data is missing. The data that is there is mostly wrong. Fortunately, I have a backup so I will not be in need of your services.

Also, since we are all being flooded with tons of email from username <communitysupport@active.com> and can't make them stop, would you like us to auto-forward all of that mail to your mailbox? I really don't need it.

Let us sincerely apologize for the problems you are currently experiencing with the transition from Cool Running to the Active system.

Our team has worked extremely hard to try and minimize these issues. However, any transition is going to cause some discomfort. Moving from the familiar to something new is a difficult situation. You may be asking why this transition occurred in the first place. The simple reason is that it was necessary simply to maintain the day to day operations of CoolRunning.com. The old CoolRunning.com system could no longer handle the load of the community. Furthermore, there were data security and maintenance issues that were creating an increasing strain on the system. Over the last six months, there were numerous issues of users losing data on the CoolRunning.com system, a trend that was accelerating into the New Year. By moving the message boards and running log to Active.com, you benefit from Active's more robust infrastructure, meaning no more lost data.

As for the email notifications that you are receiving, you may stop receiving them by logging into your MyActive profile. Then click on "Profile" and "Edit Preferences." There you will have the option to tailor you email notification preferences regarding threads you create as well as threads you reply to.

Again, we apologize for any problems you may be experiencing in the transition. We value your feedback and it is our goal to work with you to ensure your concerns are addressed and promptly resolved.

Since Sean Griffin gave us Amy's email address, I have sent her a note asking HER to download my CoolRunning info for me!

I have begun holding my breath and I still think there is a santa.

Trish, you didn't reply to my post in this thread. There are some specific issues. I think data loss is the biggest.

This thing was pitched to our community as an "upgrade." I, for one, did not anticipate data loss and feature loss to be part of an upgrade. This is substandard performance.

Yes it is free. But even in free, one's word should be worth more than nothing.

This site is terrible, the training log is the worst, and I can't get all my data back. I am out of here for good. Thanks SO much, active.com.

dmichaelp, but doesn't a C&P corporate-speak response make you feel better?

I've worked in IT for over 20 years and I agree with the above posts. If I managed an "upgrade" like this I'd be mailing out resumes.

I had no problems logging into the Active site and went through the "migrate" process. I thought it work work bu the only workouts that seemed to "migrate" were the standard ones on the Active list. I tried using their "report" feature just to get the monthly and yearly totals but looks like you can only run a report for 7 days.

Really miss the coolrunning feature where they gave you a total of "ALL" workouts you set up and gave weekly, monthly, yearly totals.

My mistake -- I should have just printed out the page from coolrunning before the "upgrade".

Yea -- there's a lot of "features" on active but those of us who have been logging workouts for years probably have no use for them.....

Trish,

Glad to see you are making an effort at answering questions concerning CoolRunning. My problems are simple, I am missing data from the transfer. You mention that CR was having problems with data loss, I had never experienced any in the 6 years I have been using the site, but in the first day of using active I am now a victim of data loss.

Also, when I opened my old running log I could see weekly, monthly and yearly totals, along with my average pace/mile for each. I don't see that here. I could also search by distance, route, race, and several other variables and see all of those runs. For example, if I wanted to compare all of my 5k race times, I would simply enter it and they would appear. Can I accomplish any thing like that here? I could also jump to any given week simply by clicking a drop down date menu at the top of my log page, and it was easy to log other training activities like swimming and cycling. Again, it doesn't look like that is very simple if even possible here.

I am willing to give active a chance, but please let me know if you are addressing these log concerns, or if the feature are available and I just haven't found them. Maybe there is a way something good can come from this change, I am open minded, but so far, things are looking a bit grim.

Thanks for your time.
