Which rain? I heard a shower coming down during the night, but there was absolutely no rain between 7 and 8am. However, if you saw a wet track outside, it might have been my sweat.

On the other side, I deduct from your post that you are living close enough to join us on our Tuesday runs.

À plus tard

No rain this morning. Big blue sky, some clouds, big sun, heavy air. We ran between 7 and 8.

humm...to meet with a handsome young fella for cocktails or to sweat profusely with a bunch of runners on a hot Thursday evening...decisions, decisions...just teasing ya..Sally...

On another note, checked out the two following events, if anyone is looking for a fall marathon in pretty surroundings..one, I think Coureur was going to give a try...

DR - are you participating in the Standard Life run...? I have it on the calendar...but I'll have to see how I feel and if I'm ready to leave the next day for Vermont.

Have a good aft everyone... Df

Re: Montreal, third chapter
Tuesday runs? Hmmm my tuesday runs are already taken! But yes, I do live within that perimeter of your run!! And I'm trying to make a change in my schedule and try to run really early, say 5-6:00am to beat the heat... and the sun! Dunno if I'm up to your pace and distance! What other days do you run that early?

Ever run at the westhill track? It's a gravel track on the corner of Fielding and Westhill.

I'm probably not going to do Standard Life. I'm training for some shorter distance races and am still trying to get used to the heat so I'm still not feeling 100% comfortable with my mileage yet.

When is the next Hurleys, Sally???

Re: Montreal, third chapter
For Ralf and TB:

Among the things I'm bringing for Whiteface:

=> 2 X breakfast: I'll eat the first one once I'm on the road, whatever time that may be (between 4:00 and 5:00 AM). But there'll be at least another 3 hours before the race starts... we'll need to eat again around 6:45-7:00 AM. So bring some stuff to munch on in the car.

=> Regardless of what the weather folks say, the mountains create their own weather patterns. And the temperature at 1500 ft can be very different from the weather at 5000 ft. Bring a running outfit for 5 degrees Celsius and raining, and bring another one for 30 degrees Celsius, sunny, and humid. This (these?) is what we'll be dealing with.

=> Bring a wool sweater or polar fleece, plus wind cheater and pants for the summit. We'll send our care package up before the race so that it'll be waiting for us at the top. We'll be running for almost 2 hours to get to the summit, so I want to get a little time to enjoy the scenery without going into hypothermia.

=> Bring a set of post-race clothing: this is a hard race, and you'll be soaking wet one way or another. You'll enjoy going back to the car and finding some clean, dry clothes and shoes for lunch. Great also for a few minutes of sightseeing in Lake Placid...

Don't forget your passports, and Ralf, whatever other paperwork you need to go through. Ralf, send me an email to get my home phone number.

We have to make sure to bring along at least one camera.

That's it for now.

Mars

Mars is not joking about the change in temperature. I've gone hiking in the Adirondacks and I may have been sweating at the bottom, but at the summit I was shivering and putting a hat and gloves on along with warmer clothes, and that was in the dead of summer.

Reminds me of the time I went whale watching in the Saguenay, in the middle of the summer ( 30+ degrees C), I was wearing multiple layers and a jacket to stay warm on the croisière... Hmmmm so that's the trick! We need to run on water to stay cool! Ok... I think it's time for me to get to bed now...

I'm glad it's starting to cool off outside. I just came back from running and finally the temperature outside is bearable to run in.

BTW Dragons if your running with the Vainquers, do you know when is their next track meet that their hosting.

Re: Montreal, third chapter
Oh yeah, nice break from the hot sun. Although I put on sunscreen, the sun (on my skin) is starting to stress me out a little...

Acidosis : I have to ask, but for now the only event they are holding is a 3000m time trial in 2 weeks. Seems like there will be TONS of people and I don't think the heats will be that small.... but I'll ask about that.

For Whiteface people : there's a 4k race on the 15th of juin, it consists of a 4k flat course and then 850 stairs up the Olympic stadium tower and since you guys will be in fine climbing shape...

FYI : Mars and Ralf and whoever else runs near Villa Maria/snowdon : If you go a little north into hampstead park

there is a waterfountain there inside the little cabane thing near the tennis courts.

Re: Montreal, third chapter
Hey! Just catching up on the last 3 pages, hehehe. Kiwi, I didn't actually "see" you at the start of the second leg, I just thought that I must have seen you even though I don't know what you look like. I ran the second and third leg and the second to last leg. So on the third leg I must have seen you. There weren't many running that leg. Were you the one running with the guy on the bike? I didn't see much of anyone else. Oh and drangonsrouges, I don't think Avril and Lise are 19 yet. I'm turning 20 in August and they're two or three years younger than me, making them 17 or 18 (I used to run with them(not exactly "with", they're a bit quick for me)). And by the way, I have seen a few results where Lise beat Avril, maybe Avril was injured. It's only fair that she gets to win sometimes.
After Carls run my legs were hurting on monday, but of course I decided to go cycling 45km anyway. That wasn't too bad. The plan was to do a tempo run after but it ended up being more of just a regular 10k run. My legs are back to normal (almost) so I'm going on with my regular routine.
Not scheduled to work this Saturday, so I'm doing Standard Life! Exciting! I've never tried it before! Not going to run a good time, I know, but oh well. Then I got next Sunday off by switching with someone so I get to do the Mont Habitant Triathlon!!! I've been training for about a month and a half so I think I'm ready. It's going to be fun.

That 3000m trial is on June 21, around 7pm. With about 80 Vainqueurs or so plus guests, there might be over a hundred people there. I know that there are 4 heats (25 persons per heat?)

There is also a 1500m trial later in july.
