Foster Child update

Well, if things go as planned, Little Miss will be returning to her family on Friday morning. She's been spending full day, unsupervised visits, with her Dad, a couple times a week, for the past couple of weeks.

Dad has done everything that he was suppose to do. He met all of the requirements of the courts. This is turning into a success story. I should be thinking "Good for this guy. He's done everything he needed to do to put his family back together". I should be cheering for him. Instead, I'm thinking I can take better care of her. I know that's selfish, but that's the way I feel right now. We've known this for a week now, but it's just starting to hit me today.

Just thought I'd give you folks the update.

{{Chris, Amy, and Little Miss}}

Personally, I think you'd do a much better job of raising her, but you knew going in that part of foster parenting is that the goal is re-uniting the family of origin.

It must be heartbreaking, but I hope you'll be allowed to keep in touch.

And I hope her family lets Little Miss have her Ark for Christmas.

I think I mentioned that we're going through foster care training too. And that's been my struggle all along -- feeling positive about the goal of reunification. But I know it's important (right?), and at least you can feel good that Dad has done everything he's supposed to have.

And you've done a good thing for Little Miss while she was with you.

I hope her father continues to pull it together, but I can imagine how you feel, Chris....I couldn't do it, just for that reason...
Sorry, man...try not to let it discourage you from future foster care...it's noble work...

Re: Foster Child update
You've done a great thing by being a foster parent. But even if you think you could take "better care" of her, nothing could replace for her knowing that her parents love her and want her.
