Re: Montreal Runners Forum 2005, part IV
To make this point clear. Both, Grommit and Chops have independently offered to pace me for some part of the course and I certainly appreciate their offers. On the other hand, as this is my first marathon I have no experience and I have no idea how things will go and how I will react, expecially on the last 10 km of the course. Therefore, I leave it up to Chops and Grommit (or anybody else) if they want to join me at some point on the last 15 km. Take care

Ralf

ahhh taper.....mmmm... starts after this long weekend..... came all the way without injury..... should I say that ? Will I fall out of bed or something tonight .... this months total so far 222 miles... maybe 12 in the morning for a near personal high of 234.... = +/- 375kms

MTL marathon.... I like the idea of banditing with chops, we could sorta join the race at the corner of amhurst/ste catherine and pretend we were real runners.... keep ralf company and then exit before his big finish....

Ralf you mention you're not too happy with your training... how so ? how were the last couple of long runs ? what do you have plannned as a taper ?

As for my Nike elite thing... I love it but it tends to get uncalibrated and loose its accuracy as soon as I start romping in the woods... it likes even paces on even surfaces..... aint much of thaat in my schedule these days..... but yes it does support the 3% minority of the PC market not just the MS viral distribution system

the experiment continues...... throw the switch Igor.........

wednesday am....... just a tad soggy out there so I'll save that 12 miler for september...... wow what a wimp

Re: Montreal Runners Forum 2005, part IV
Hello everyone, I didn't run Monday, but I had a great run yesterday along the Cannal Lachine, Thanks KJ! I knew that rain would start up this morning, and I almost ran dispite it, but I think I will just wait it out.. I am not training for any race, although I have been running more than usuall it seems. It feels good to be getting out more frequently, and I know I am building stamina, and strength!
Good luck with the tappering schedule, everyone running the Montreal 1/2 or Full maraton!.. I am looking forward to seeing the medals!

Re: Montreal Runners Forum 2005, part IV
Guys,

You gotta try the site below ! Much fun !

It is a data base for running routes. I added a variation of our DO DA HOOD route but I f**ck up somewhere because it doesn't say it is located in Montreal in the listing and I didn't find a way to correct the data. To make sure the mistake won't happen again, use "Montreal" in the title of your route.

Your turn.

Important advice: NEVER USE YOUR MOUSE WHEN YOUR ARE TRAVELING ON THE MAP. USE YOUR MOUSE FOR TRACING THE ROUTE ONLY.

Re: Montreal Runners Forum 2005, part IV
Did I read something about rain? Rain? What's that?

I've been very busy down here, so I haven't posted much, but I have been following the trials and tribulations of the MTL Cool Runners. Good luck wishes go out to the runners of the Montreal HM, and to Ralf for the full. Good luck also to the race bandits.

A big thank you to those that have been bumping up my topic for Las Vegas runners. I've yet to see anyone run in my area of town. I also think that most of the more serious or dedicated runners are club-based. Few lone wolves like myself. Ah well... We'll see what turns up.

It's been tough getting into a running groove down here. Between my work schedule and family schedule, I've needed to run either at 5:30 AM or working out last thing before going to bed at night. And then on the weekends, you either have to be done by 9 AM, or the heat really, REALLY beats down on you. No heavyness like with humidity... just running inside a dry-heat sauna. This last weekend it was 40 C by mid-morning, and 43-45 C by early afternoon.

So... mainly 5 milers in the morning, some 5 K intervals on the treadmill, and last night (10:00-11:30 PM), my longest run yet at about 9-10 miles (still have to measure it).

Lake Tahoe is out... it is being run on a Saturday morning, and I can't come in earlier than the Friday evening because of work. Not good timing in view of the difficulty of the course and the altitude difference. Just as well, considering the inconsistencies in my training.

But I've been recruited on to the corporate running team (who opened their big mouth?), and I've been TOLD that I'm running the Las Vegas Marathon the first week of December for the organization. Inter-corporate challenges like these are a big thing here. So I guess I have to start logging those miles again.

This Monday, a 5 K run for the Cricle du Soleil and the André Agassi foundations. I have no idea how that'll go, but hey, it's for good causes.

I miss those hill runs and the Sunday mornings...

Keep training and stay safe. Take care all.

Are you kidding? Today was some of the best conditions we've seen in a long time. I did my regular 10K route without any problems, except that the soap started to sudz out of my shirt and shorts...now that must have been quite the sight. Seriously though, it was cool, no nasty sweating necessary, it was a blast. I haven't had that much fun running in a long time. I went during some pretty hard rain at about 10:20, and it was a great relief from all that terrible humidity we've been having. Next time you've gotta take advantage!!!

Re: Montreal Runners Forum 2005, part IV
Anyone go out this evening ? Fantastic sunset after quite the day of rain. Took my bike out for the 2nd time this summer, speaking of which, where did the summer go, its September 1st tomorrow already.

I had just spent the better part of the evening going through munchkin?s old school material and decided to go out and get some air. A woman was walking along by our church and
visibly watching the sky so I slowed down to tell her I was doing the same thing and we struck up a short conversation about what has happened in the southern states, etc. how we needed to get away from the television and internet news.

She and her hubby had stayed in Biloxi, had done a fair amount of traveling. She then tells me that she is 61 and he is 69 and that he is dying and started to cry. If you believe in the saying/adage that everything happens for a reason, wow, seems the universe decided I really needed to get out tonight and cross paths with this lady.

Finally registered for the ˝ today. Popped into the gym last night for some T/M work and light S/T. Tomorrow morning EARLY, heading out the door for a long run, hope I?m awake enough to not trip and land on my face. The weather forecast appears good right through the weekend ? wonderful news.

Mars, it was really nice to hear from you today. Have you done the Vegas Marathon before ? Let us know how the 5k race goes, sounds interesting.

G'night -Df

Re: Montreal Runners Forum 2005, part IV
Any hill running going on tomorrow night? I have had a crazy schedule as of late, and if I can finish early enough tomorrow, will run with you all, but will need to dump my bags somewhere ... Who's in?

I can't pick up internet tomorrow at all so TB, could you phone me sometime during the day and leave me a message to tell me if the hill running's on, that is if no one responds to this post tonight? Last time I will be able to check messages will be 6am, then off to work I go!

Thanks,
Sally

p.s. Df7 ... do you plan to be there? If I make it, I will be a-hurting, no running this week and my sleep is entirely off.
