There are some really nice areas. I usually run along 98 (main drag) as little as possible, and try to drop down along the shore. Unfortunately, none of the roads go all along the shore. I have gone down along Oskaloosa Island (Gulf Shore Blvd).

If you're interested in a group run, try these folks. I e-mailed them and they were very helpful, though I never ran with them. At the very least, they might be able to help you with a route.
