Yep ... I wish Bloomington had a casual running club, or a trail running club. The Track Club folks are a little too ... intense for me. There've got to be a ton of Bloomingtonites who'd want to travel to races and things.

I remember my Bloomington running days... I got my start up there. Trained for my first marathon... nice and hilly

I'm looking forward to a half marathon there... what? In two years?

Next fall, apparently. The largest running event in southern Indiana! To be held Sept 9, 2006.

From today's Bloomington newspaper:
Students said it will be the largest running event in southern Indiana and the first collegiate mini marathon in the state. In addition to a 13.1-mile race in and around Bloomington, it will include a 5-kilometer race and a 1-mile family run.

Woo! Wish the Bloomington Marathon was still around!

There is a half marathon that ventures into the state of Indiana... on the south side I've participated in that one before! It's another collegiate shindig... originating from Oxford, OH.

I'll be there on Sept 9th, I guess. What else would I possibly have to do that day? It's a short hour and a half drive from where I live...

I guess I'll just crash with my friend whlightnin

I highly, highly doubt it will overtake "The Mini" as far as the largest running event in Indiana. A half marathon with 25,000+ runners,
Summary number of finishers: 25028
number of females: 12605
number of males: 12423

not including the thousands that run the 5K
number of finishers: 3415
number of females: 2185
number of males: 1230

This might be hard to top!

I think they meant the largest running event in southern Indiana. Which it might be -- I can't think of any particularly large event in southern Indiana, though I'm not sure about the Evansville area. Isn't there a river run or bridge run in Evansville that attracts quite a few runners?

Anyway -- here's a link to the course:

And a link to the race itself:

Hmm, lots of roads to shut down -- hope they have a lot of volunteers and a big police presence. Short but sharp hill on Winslow coming up to the 8th mile marker, and a long but less harsh slope up Henderson to get back to campus. Looks like fun!

Only 357 days, 17 hours and 18 minutes left until the race starts ... make that 17 minutes ...
