Hey,

I recognize you ... and nice to know that you are running again! WELCOME!! Besides the Sunday runs, the Thursday ****-hills run is fantastic! I won't be there this Sunday as I have the kiddies, but will try to make it for the Thursday afterwards. (Villa-Maria metro at 6pm). Whereabouts are you living now? We might be able to arrange running together other days depending on what neck of the woods you might be living. Other alternative is running certain mornings with Metalboy ...

Wouldn't you know it, first short run back after over a week off due to illness, and lo and behold, I throw my neck and upper back out due to my dance class. No running today, though I am tempted to tough it out, though I highly doubt that the jolt of running would be good for it. Sigh This training for Honolulu is fraught with obstacles ... At this rate of training, I wouldn't even be good to bandit Ile-Bizard to keep Chops company ...

Sore Sally

Re: Montreal Runners Forum, chapter V
TO EVERYBODY: I won't be able to be at Villa-Maria metro station, 18H00, tonight, for our Hill-Kill-Thrill extravaganza. Blame it on JoeB...

Mars: Larger snowshoes... Ya... I can picture myself plodding snow legs wide-apart... More seriously, I have a feeling that running with snowshoes could have detrimental consequences to gait and form. Take my footsteps. As you know, I'm running on a straight line, which is impossible to do with snowshoes. It means opening up and next thing you know... groin injury.
Big Sur means getting prepared for a marathon in the middle of Mtl winter... Humm, calling unfair advantage to you.

Ralph: 27k is a loooong way on steep hills. Try to keep your head from falling forward as long as you can. Anxious to read your report. Make us proud, you carry the torch of the Mtl Coolrunners.

Ralf: Good luck with your race this weekend! Hope you have lots of fun and we will be looking forward to the RR!!

Alright folks, as you know, I've been plagued by injury and illness, so I thought I would try to set my marathon training schedule straight and do some catching up. Mind over matter ... From my kids' school this morning to the mountain, up and around 3 loops, back down and back to their school - 20.5k. Mind you, I ran uber-slow and took every water and bathroom break possible and the last 2.5k started hurting, but I did it. The first of my long runs for Honolulu. Yay! I was really doubtful and already tired when I first hit the mountain, and never intended to go past 16k ... but what the heck!

Roly and I have something really interesting cooking ... details to come if he can pass it by the "boss" ... I'm soooo excited!

Sally

Re: Montreal Runners Forum, chapter V
Hi Everybody. I am totally confused (as usual) about how this site works. It took me forever to find this forum. I just wanted those who live in or around the NDG area to know that there is another guy to run with. Was I wrong to assume that there was a get-together at Hurleys last Monday? Nobody seemed to be there. Oh well. Story of my life. Looking for a drive to the NYC marathon. Anyone going?

Welcome, Mercury ...

Hey, we were all there (well 5 of us) at Hurley's on Monday Oct 17 ... where were you sitting? How could you miss me, you know what I look like

Anyway, you might be able to get some info from TurtleBoy about getting on a bus with him (the MAA has a chartered one).

I think Mr. Lambchops lives not far from Villa-Maria metro, so I'm sure you two could work something out, and might be close to the same pace too!

Hope to see you at next Thursday's hill run!

Sally (aka Bonnie)

p.s. As you see folks, I have nothing better to do today then to run and lurk on the running posts today ...

I think that Silly Sally was under the impression that my "handle" was Spartan 1, but I was denied that handle. It is Mercury1 (Ian) See you soon.

Re: Montreal Runners Forum, chapter V
Just an update on my most recent run (10Km) at Parc Lafontaine at the Provincals. Came 3rd in the 50-59 in a disappointing 38:51. Ran a stupid race strategy - wise, going too fast at the beginning (18:09 at 5K) , thinking I was finishing but having a half lap to go. Duuuuumb.

Hey, I just checked the Jay Mountain 1/2 marathon website and their half went from 26K to 29K for 2006. I'm going to have to walk harder if I want to finish this race next July.

Did I hear Sally say somethings cooking maybe duck.

Mercury: Glad to welcome you to the group. Hope we could bring something to your running (our faster 10k runner is around 2 minutes behind you...). Stick around.

Sunday, 10H00AM (or sooner ??), Mont-Royal statue. Who's coming ?

Not just ready for Honolulu, Big Sur too! Two for the price of one, ya know! I remember running Toronto International cause I figured it was the best way to get a long run in before Barbados, 7 weeks later.

I thought it was cold outside - I miss running in the "warmer" temperature of shorts ... Saw plenty of those today albeit the frigid morning temperature, don't know how they did it. I was wearing winter tights, double layers + jacket, headband, cap and double gloves and was just right ...

Truxx and Omni, you have a contender for your 10k time ... someone's upping the ante ... Hey, isn't Mercury that fella with the little wings on his feet? Ian, that's cheating!!

Roly: I'm Chinese ... duck is boring every-day type of fare ... how about dog?
