Well, just came back from a 5-miler with the Las Vegas Running Team folks. Very cool... Dan-the-running-man followed us around in his Las Vegas Running Team van, and had a water break set-up for us around mile 4. The bad news? I was dead last. Thankfully, a young woman by the name of Laura stuck with me so I wouldn't get lost... Laura and I brought up the rear, despite turning in our 5 miles in barely over 45 minutes.

I didn't get a chance to ask, but it looks like a couple of speedsters in the group might have turned in the run in about half-an-hour...

Looks like I've got room for improvement, huh?

Hi again everybody. I was wondering what Roly does for a living that he can keep those hours? Sorry I missed the gathering last weekend, but my car broke down when I was up in St. Lin-des-Laurentides, and wouldn't you know that my mechanic took that day for a vacation, so the car remains there for the week until I go back this Friday night. Haven"t run much lately due to some intestinal difficulties that kept me on the treadmill every other day. Usual workout consisted of 45 minute run @ 6:50/ mile pace (8.6 speed), which is what I hope to run in Boston. Tummy seems to be better, since I ran to work in St. Laurent and home again yesterday and again today. Things are starting to look up. If anyone wants to go for a run one of these days, send me a message. Cheers everyone.

Hi Mercury,
It only gets crazy like this once in while at work. I work with generic and innovator drug manufactures in Phase 1 Early Clinical Research. with 50% client based in countries like Jordan, Turkey, Slovania, France, Spain....That is why I am usually at work early to be available to them for a short time of the day. My company lets me work as many hours as I want as long as they don't have to pay me any more.

BTW I also work in St. Laurent.

Mercury I think I need to get you and Grommit to mentor me in getting my speed up I tried to run at a speed of 8.3 on the TM and didn't last to long. I want to build up my speed eventually but right now I'm concentrating on high milage and started to run more hills. Need to get ready for Jay and with Grommits help and hopefully we can run together more often I can think of trying Vermont 50 miler. I have the mind set to do it but I will need to focus hard on training.

Anyone want to run the hypothermic 1/2 marathon Feb. 5, 2006 Iles de Boucherville sponsored by the Running room.

.... 8 miles on the TM for me this evening 1 mile w/up 7 w/.25mile intervals......56:15. About an hour of core and stretching... all is well.

Roly..... start with little intervals, say 0.15mile at maybe .75mph faster than your usual aerobic pace and then go back to your comfortable pace. As it gets easier this may take a few weeks add speed and distance.... it should feel hard but not too hard.... good luck! let us know how you get on

Bite me Gro... been very busy. Will you be bringing the eggnog...promise not to sing xmas carols AND leave the misletoe at home ?

After a crazy weekend I decided to go out for about 40 minutes on Sunday night. It was beautiful, but as JB mentioned, some areas had little snow removal done. What a great way to blow off steam, winter running isn't bad - until you meet a careless driver. Almost got myself killed on a busy street where the one sidewalk had not been cleaned so I couldn't hop out of the way of a car moving very fast. The street is well lit, I was visible, no oncoming traffic and other drivers had given me room to move - not this one. I thought I was going to be sick right there in the snowbank. How is that for Christmas spirit ?

As for hill running next week, I have time in the morning of the 27th and 28th if someone wants some slow company - y'all know where to find me.

I see there are ankle, knee, car problems among my fellow cool runners, and Grommit is looking for an egg ? Thats at Easter Gro... you gotta wait a little longer.

Take care everyone, watch out for the nutters who are **** bent to get wherever they so desperately need to be.

Enjoy the time with family and friends.

Df

I'd love to run Sunday either time is good. Gotta pay in advance for the copious amount of food lined up. However, this is contingent on my left knee. I was able to muster an amazing three (3) minutes on the treadmill this evening before throwing in the towel. I decided to float over to the elipitical cross trainer session that was quite busy After a half hour of flailing away, my "bee-hind" felt as if it were about to fall off. Now I know why these machines are so popular with the women. I feel like a bird with its wings clipped. sigh I guess I'll seek solace by surrounding myself with a bevy of women working their butts off :P

Take care and Happy Holidays to one and all.

Hey TB, knee still sore?

How are all you guys doing? Don't you just love running in the snow!!! On average how much do you think the snow slows you down? It's kinda nice though, the snowflakes falling on your eyelids, cooling down your face... From experience, don't tell your co-workers you inhaled snow through your nose on your run (accidentally!), they might take it the wrong way, but I can't be the only one here... !

Be careful guys, I hear there were at least 2 accidental deaths involving snow-removal trucks this year on the island of MOntreal....

See you soon guys I hope (when this two-week-long flu/cold/bronchitis subsides...)

Sorry grommit do not think I'll make it for the X-mas day run upadahill. I spoke with Stephane this morning and he may join you at the monuments for the run but was not sure at what time he could go I will seem him tonight so I'll find out.

So far KJ and Df, for a group hill run next week, any one else and who will lead the flock.

No one interested in the hpothermic 1/2 marathon in February. My co-worker and I are hoping for a very cold day so that no one will show up and we'll have a change at the top three finisher medals.

10 miler this morning 1 hour 39 minutes.

BTW the Jay Marathon is capped at 300 runners so those running register early.

The torture continues.

DR: Knee is getting better as I've been able to continue practising drills on a daily basis since pain started. I spoke with D this monrning and he thinks it's as a result of poor technique when I was practising lunges the other day which resulted in the pain. Seems to make sense as my left leg is weaker than the right. No running for me untl this situation is resolved. I'll continue with core work and stretching.

Roly: I'll take a pass at the hypothermic half. Too early for me. I was planning the 10km in LaSalle in March follwed by the Nike half in April This stepwise approach over the longer period of time is more consistent with my objectives for 2006. Win a medal for us will ya?

Have a great day...
