Re: Montreal Crazy Runners, Vol. 6
Happy New Years everyone. Slightly chilly on Mont-Royal this afternoon but it was a pure delight to see people beginning the new year outdoors. Many people were at the top skating at the new skating oval that was recently completed at the chalet. I saw many parents with their children sliding down the hill on,"crazy karpets". Lots of fun to be had and I had a chance to bum into a few familiar faces whilst burning off some holiday calories. Oh well time for a hot shower and a generous helping of leftovers and dessert.

Grommit, Have you registered for Jay. Dan the RD at Jay posted on their site that if the registration keeps up they may be fully signed in a few days.

Sally now if I do the ironman in August 2007, I won't be able to complete the full Jay challenge next year (Kayak, run and MTB)

Re: Montreal Crazy Runners, Vol. 6
Hey All,

Got in my 20 miler on the TM today in 3 hours 45 minutes. I was very suprised I was able to do it considering all the booze I had over the last 2 days can't say no to a good wine or an aged Brandy.

I guess I can say it's taper time and carbo loading time.
I'll start with lasagna and sausage loading.

DR- care to join me on the carbo loading.

Nothing but water and hydration drinks for the next two weeks honest.

Roly

Beautiful evening for a run, no wind, mild. Sluggish these last couple of days, blame it on the indulgence in holiday fare Am I the only one running outdoors ?

How was the new year's run at Carls yesterday ? DR - did you go to that ?

Roly - you're a machine

Re: Montreal Crazy Runners, Vol. 6
Hey Df, I run outdoors!! I don't have access to a treadmill so 100% of my runs are outdoors. I didn't go to Carl's run, even though it's really not far from my place. Acidosis, did you go to Carl's? BTW are you running the McGill Team Challenge?

Roly : Did someone say carbo-loading??? You know I'm always in for that hehe... And I still want to try that irish pub on monkland. Beer anyone?

Anyone going to work tomorrow (Tuesday)? I took 2 extra days off

Happy New Year!!

Run safe!

BIb # 710

It's cold and icy up here WTF did you think!

DR I'm back at work today. Gotta pay the bills.

DF Need to maintain the same conditions as my TM marathon, I will be outside again soon, really don't want to end up like my sister with a broken arm slipping on the ice. I kinda promised someone I would stay injury free. Or at least try.

Re: Montreal Crazy Runners, Vol. 6
Flipping around on television last night, I flipped past an ad on channel 549 (I have star choice satellite), and saw an ad for a show coming up next Tuesday the 10th of Jan. at 9pm about the Rosy Ruiz Boston Marathon scandal. Here is what I picked off the net:

?ANYTHING TO WIN,? GSN?S FIRST WEEKLY DOCUMENTARY SERIES PREMIERES JANUARY 10 WITH A SPECIAL TWO-HOUR EPISODE
FOCUSED ON ROSIE RUIZ AND THE BOSTON MARATHON

Ruiz Gives Her First On-Camera Interview Since the 1980 Scandal
(Santa Monica, CA) ? Throughout the history of human competition, people have gone to great lengths for the glory and prestige of victory. GSN, the network for games, will tell stories of individuals? often-unbelievable attempts to win in a signature weekly hour-long documentary series, ANYTHING TO WIN. ANYTING TO WIN premieres Tuesday, January 10 at 9:00 PM ET/PT with a special two-hour episode on Rosie Ruiz and the Boston Marathon Scandal.

ANYTHING TO WIN will spotlight those who have pushed the limits ? some to success, others to failure. The topics will run the gamut: from Bobby Fischer, the greatest chess player of his generation, to Arnold Schwarzenegger and Johnnie Cochran, men who rose from humble beginnings to reset the standards for achievement in their respective fields. ANYTHING TO WIN will also tell the tales of competitions gone awry, such as the Tonya Harding saga, or outright cheating such as the Pennsylvania Lottery Scandal.

The first topic to be presented in the series is the story of Rosie Ruiz, a 26-year-old New Yorker who was the first woman to cross the finish line in the Boston Marathon in 1980, a year of great significance for the Marathon as the U.S. was boycotting the Moscow Olympics because of the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. Minutes after her victory where ?she came out of nowhere,? race officials questioned her record-setting finish time for several reasons, not the least of which was the fact that her presence had not been noted at any of the race?s official checkpoints. Days later, Ruiz was stripped of her title and Jacqueline Gareau was declared the winner.

For the first time since 1980, Ruiz gives an on-camera interview exclusively on ANYTHING TO WIN and tells the world her side of the story. Also interviewed are Gareau, men?s winner Bill Rodgers, race officials and reporters who broke the unbelievable story more than two decades ago.

Anyway, a documentery for those of you who might be interested. If you have starchoice, then it is channel 549.

The future is here. It's just not widely distributed yet.

Hi TB, In fact, I have to record it, as I am working that night. So, yep, consider it recorded.

Re: Montreal Crazy Runners, Vol. 6
Hi Boys/Girls. Anyone running on Thursday? Tomorrow I run at Ile Bizard with Boreal (hills). Just registered for Boston today but want to run at Ile Bizard on the 5th for the 10K. Anyone need a ride? I will probably run the Half in Ottawa as well. Probably do some 10K's in between. I would like to run as many West Island Circuit races as I can this year provided everything holds together. Weather has been suprisingly good for this time of year so mileage is easier (tolerable) than usual, except Mt. royal where the footing is difficult at best. Chow.
