Re: Northern CA folks - Local Park Runs
Oohhh, group runs.....I love those!

I'm getting my butt back in gear and training for the Palos Verdes Half in May. I'd be interested in getting together for a run, it's always been fun in the past. Saturdays work best for me, and by March I'll be able to hang for 7-8 miles.

Re: Northern CA folks - Local Park Runs
I'd be interested if there are any slow runners out there (~10 minute miles right now)

Re: Northern CA folks - Local Park Runs
Okay, I've been lurking around for a couple days & finally decided to jump on board. I live in Northern CA, but it might as well be Timbuktu. Just getting back to running, so yeah, 10 min miles sound good to me...Plan on running a marathon (my first) at the end of the year (still deciding which one) & by March, I too will probably be able to hang for 7 - 8 miles ; ).
So, I'll be hanging around to see what runs you might be able to put together. It's a 3 hr drive for me to SF, but only about 2 to the East Bay...& even closer in the Napa area. So keep us posted. Thanks!

Mica: If no one else is on board for a slow run I'd be happy to meet up for a mid-distance run in March at some half way point.

Re: Northern CA folks - Local Park Runs
I run 10 minute miles, on a good day. I've done group runs in the past with people here and nobody's ever complained (at least not to my face!) and they've even come running with me again. So don't worry about being slow!

Re: Northern CA folks - Local Park Runs
Thanks for the responses...Will keep an eye on what's happening & sure, we'll try to plan something for March. My biggest problem is finding a running buddy for my daily runs, but with the support of the people on these sites, maybe my cyber-buddies will keep me motivated. Thanks again!

Re: Northern CA folks - Local Park Runs
Hup
I've run the Dipsea every year (except last) since. I'm so hooked! I spent last Saturday night dancing the fox trot with Darryl Beardall and getting trail pointers. The trail is a mess, they cut down a ton of trees following last year and then there is the slide damage. I plan on running the Dipsea and running my entry form to Mill Valley Post Office next month. Let me know if you want me to run yours too! It's one heck of an experience. You'll love it! On top of that I might join Tamalpa just to protest Empire Runner's new rules.

And Point Reyes, you guys put a run together and I'll try to be there.

Re: Northern CA folks - Local Park Runs
So folks, how about we pick a day and venue? East Bay sounds good, if all agree (sorry Betty, maybe once we get regular with these runs we can get over to Pt Reyes ... I'm still looking at the practice Dipsea, less crowded than the real deal).
My calendar is pretty clear so far, so let's hear which dates work for you all.
As to the place, here[/URL" target="_blank"> is the East Bay Parks website .... have at it!

Re: Northern CA folks - Local Park Runs
I'm sorry I'll have to skip that day (maybe I will skip, is that considered x-training?).

But I'm so glad to see that you're trail running - Yippee! After I posted that I'd love to group run, I was concerned that as a trail runner I might not fit in...but now my concern is that I can't do the miles! But, that weekend we get a new puppy & I'm committed to getting him settled (lame excuse? - no it's true)

Anyway, sounds great - hope you have a super run & I'll be watching for a March run.

Re: Northern CA folks - Local Park Runs
Hey, all. I just found this part of the board. I'd love to go on a group run... but I'm also really slow and just started running a couple weeks ago. I did the Kaiser Permanente SF 5K last weekend in about 36 minutes.

I live in Marin County. If any of you slow runners are up for a run in Point Reyes or near Marin, let me know. =)

Re: Northern CA folks - Local Park Runs
Oh it's great to see so many Bay Area folks. Argh, I can't make the 18th because Mr. Mayfield is riding in the bike tour in Martinez, but I'll definitely make one of these runs. Lake Chabot is wonderful. I live in the Martinez area and know a lot of good trails in Briones. I'm also planning on running the Brickyard on April 23rd...anyone else?

Have a great run everybody!
