Question about trolls on Active.com

Does active ban or otherwise discipline trolls when they find them? Or do they just let it all go wild?

What would you think if they did?

Well, they do have the "Report Abuse" feature, but I don't know what it does.

I got to believe that in the Active.com Corporate Manual of Style and the Employee Handbook for Modulators that there's strict guidelines of decorum that must be adhered to and that offending individuals will have their online personas and threads quickly and dispassionitly relegated to the digital dumper. And I'm sure that the shareholders will only put up with only so much...CH

That makes me sad.

Even though I don't care for many of the things said in the CH, I thoroughly enjoy fcknuttery.

Ah, that is the very best of CH nature! :) It would be a terrible shame if they had no tolerance for it.

OTOH, there is a difference between that and abuse, but I wonder if Active can tell the difference. There is a distinct CH culture that can be subtle to the uninitiated. For instance, I wonder if the Active folks will see a substantive difference between the posts of, say, Brutal and LF4F?
If these Active folks have any smarts whatsoever, it won't take them long to figure it out.

And what prevents somebody from abuse-reporting somebody just because they don't like them personally? Or because they want to make trouble?

My guess is that the abuse abuser would get abused.

The real abuse is someone who has already established over 30 post in this limited amount of time that the site has been available.

In *tran*ditional CH culture, I don't think there is anything that would be considered abuse. With some of the things that were said in the past...my gawd...

OK, Dana! We know! ;)

A post is reported if it or the user violates Active's Terms of Use

Basically, keep it clean, respectful, and don't try to sell anything!

Perhaps multiple reports of abuse against the same poster would constitute a ban?
