Pretty much what I expected. Although I was looking for the juice and cookies.

We're dropping too low on the page, so I thought I'd say hi. What's everyone up to this week? Me? I'm ashamed to say that I haven't done a workout yet for a variety of pathetic excuses. Gotta get back to it tomorrow.

This is looking like a pretty good week, I think I'll be around 95-100 km, probably a little over, and I'm feeling very eager to run everyday. I was going to race indoors on Sunday, but I'd be literally running with a bunch of kids, and that would likely ruin any confidence the race gave me.

Training is looking pretty good overall as well. I think I'm in pretty good shape for the Chilly Half and hope to run 1:22 or faster. I'll be racing in Waterloo a couple of weeks before that.

Hey maybe we can run together...oh wait...you said one twenty-two.

Heading south tomorrow...cruise on Saturday...hope to ge a good 40 minutes on the tread every day on the ship.

Last cruise I got a 60 mile week in...and only gained a couple of pounds.

Actually, if you're willing to send me on a cruise somewhere, I'd be more than willing to run 2:22, 3:22 or 22:22.

jc, maybe you can do cruise intervals.

Get it? Cruise intervals? Cuz you're on a cruise?!?

Yuk, yuk, yuk, yuk, yuk!

ah, never mind.

I did a track w/o at lunchtime, that wind out there was howling. Every pass down the back stretch of the track I was fighting just to keep moving forward. The splits were ridiculously slow.

You think you've got problems? I ate half a bag of nachos and an entire jar of salsa before my run, and I'm still not sure why. I wasn't that hungry.

That said, I don't think I've ever been on a windy home stretch. It's always the backstretch that's windy, I don't know why.

I ran 57 minutes easy, 12 km. My achilles is a little irritated from all the concrete.

See, here's the difference between aurang and me. He did 12k in 57 minutes 'easy' and last night I did 12k in 1:01:30 'somewhat hard'.

Well that...and about 26 years of age.

Hey, don't give me that. We ran a couple of miles once, and frankly you were running faster than I normally run in a warmup. I wasn't in the best of shape back then, but that's besides the point.

I finally got back in the pool today. I even managed 1600 meters through my workout. I was still slow, but not as bad as I expected. It's been about 8 months since I've done laps. Thinking about joining a masters group now. I've got to find a way to get faster.

Don't you think that maybe it's best to join a group that's not as skilled if you haven't been in the pool for a while? Those masters sound very imposing, are there any novices or apprentices you can try?

I guess everyone's outside enjoying the weather instead of in hanging around computers.

Did my long run today, since tomorrow doesn't look like it's going to be pleasant. Two out n backs to Sunnybrook for 20 1/2 miles (33k) total in exacatacaly 3 hours on the nose. Ran in shorts, a tee and technical sweater.

I ran in shorts and a t-shirt in the afternoon. The sun was shining and the weather was spectacular, as was the run. I didn't realize what a different it made to not wear so much clothing. I had an amazing 45-minute tempo and ran 17k altogether.

Most masters groups can handle slower swimmers since they break you up into different lanes. The only key, in my mind, is that you need to be able to handle the distances and keep up with the slow group. I've asked around and I've found a couple that I could hang with. It's also good to train with a group that's a little better than you since it will push you to go harder than you would on your own.

By the way, I consider myself slow, but not "novice"!

Heh, I was just making a pun on the word 'masters'.

I just came in from my 20k long run, 13 of which I ran with the group from the store. There's something about getting a bunch of guys together. The fast group advertised themselves as running close to 8:30 miles, but we ran well over a minute faster. I think that was race pace for a lot of them; how confusing.
