I am new to all of these forums . I am a Christian who doesn't train on Sunday. I have found my own training regime and feel great. I am feeling more spiritual with my treadmill training that I can't wait till I can do them in nature.

Hey there back again. I haven't run at all since the middle of the week. I got busy and couldn't run Thursday and Friday and then went out of town for a little get-a-way with the hubby sans kids. Just what the marriage dr. ordered! It was very nice. Just one night but nice all the same. I just got back from mass and thought about running but really need to go grocery shopping.

Kimmie, thanks for the great words. I think I'm on the right track but as women and moms are used to feeling guilty about doing anything for ourselves...I keep reminding myself I can pray and connect with God while I'm running.

Hey RunnerMama...I like the screen name. Good luck with your training.

Lisa, I pray you find strength from God to get through these hard times.

Keep runnin' N Keep Prayin"

Well I went running tonight at the "Hills" what South Floridians are forced to run on to get good hill training....land fills that are converted into parks! Ha Ha! Unfortunately I only got to run for 30 minutes because the park closed at 6:00. But the good news is that starting next week it'll stay open until 7:30.

I liked some of the comments here about meditating and praying while running. I tried that a little tonight, it worked out well, but still a work in progress!

By the way Brian...welcome to the forum! Do you choose not to run on Sundays because you feel that day should be dedicated to God (maybe an obvious question)?

Keep runnin'
Katrina

I'm trying to start a Christian runner's group to raise money for various charities: heneni.com

I've just begun work on it, and the web site is mostly just a place holder for now. Let me know what you think.

O.k. you asked for it.....
I like the idea of raising money per mile for charities. But I would be more inclined to give that money to someone I know or for my own chruch then to a stranger on the internet, IMHO. I know the website's a work in progress so I didn't expect much, you did a good job of answering all of my questions on the website but you need to do a spell check, there were a lot of mispelling's and grammatical errors.

Again I think it's a great idea. Unfortunately I don't feel confident that the money would really be going towards a charity. I mean I don't even know that church and I've seen one too many news stories about church's who take people's money and build big homes for the ministers and the friends and family. There was a story about one church who did that about a year ago, I think it actually had something to do with health insurance that they provided to the congregation but they were really taking the money for themselves.

Sorry to be so jaded but like I said I would rather give my money directly to my charity or church.

Then don't... I'm not asking for your money. I would like to see a group of runners who do races with specific charities in mind. My charity is xxxchurch.com and I will be running the chicago marathon with it in mind and seeking donations for it.

As with any donation, how do you know it goes to where you hope? I don't know. I can post a picture of me handing a check to Craig Gross or something.

Some people do things, some people complain about those who do things. So be it.

Wow you really took that the wrong way. I know you aren't asking for my money. I thought you were asking for our opinions on a) your website and b) the idea of collecting donations online for running races which you would give to the church. I said I like the idea of collecting per mile for races. If I knew you and you came to me in person I'd give in a heartbeat. I wasn't calling you a liar or implying anything at all about you as a person. Just for the fact that you post here in this forum and are a Christian I like you. I was only giving you my opinion of donating to anything online which I have never done before specifically because you don't know where the money goes. I wasn't implying that YOU wouldn't give the money to the church. I bet you'll have a lot of success receiving donations from people in person and perhaps from people online. I can only speak for myself. If I knew you better I might have been willing to donate online. Sorry to have ruffled your feathers!

Hello all! I haven't posted for awhile, and wanted to say hello, and just say that Jesus is good! I took a "break" from running for awhile~ long story~ but God has pushed me back out the door, and I am so very grateful to Him for that!

To answer the question by Miamirunner about how God feels about running... this is from my own experience, but He designs each of us different. We all have our own special talents, and hobbies, and things we love to do. Usually these are characteristics that are given to us by God. I absolutely love to run, and I was feeling sort of the same way~ not sure how God felt about it, and started praying, and discovered that this is something God wants me to do. I was designed to do it. It is a wonderful time for me to connect with Him. Since asking Him to be my coach, I just run, and think about God, and listen to what He is speaking to me about that day. I know some people may not find running to be the best time to listen to God.

The Purpose Driven Life is an excellent book!

Have a great day! I'm glad to be back!!

Hey there kristab3600. I'm glad you're back and running. Yes I have taken the advice from this forum and have started using my running time as prayer and reflection time. It has worked really well when i run by myself. But I usually have a group running with me and we all chat while we run. There are 1 or 2 days though that I can do this.

I'am emjoying the Purpose Driven Life a lot. Though I've lapsed lately on my daily reading, I need to get back to it. I've been very busy lately preparing for my Baptism in April!

I haven't run yet today, I plan on trying to sneak away for a quick 30 minute run later tonight. Many things on the schedule today but I hope to make it work.

Good morning everyone! I hope everyone is having a blessed week this week!
I have a prayer request. Tomorrow I'm going to start running with my neighbor who is, to my knowledge, not a believer. I've had the goal of developing a relationship with her since I started running last fall. Now I'm ready and able to go out and do an easy 4 miler with her and begin to build a relationship that can lead her to Christ. My request is for the Lord to bless our time together and for strength and protection for me that I will be winning her over, not the other way around. I've been a Christian since age 13 (I'm 35) but have never really been in a situation where I was consciously evangalizing. Does that make sense? In other words, I've been surrounded by Christian friends from church and school and in my daily life don't have much personal interaction with "the world" other than what a mom with little kids has! Anyway, I know it will take some time to develop a friendship and so if you would pray that His will be done in this situation I would really appreciate it!
Thanks, and I'll let you know how it goes on day 1 of fishing for my neighbor!

Bec, as someone who was recently converted I can tell you that my relationship with a Christian friend of mine is what really influences me to convert and find Christ so I applaud what you're doing. In my case she never preached to me or made me feel like she was converting me...I don't think that was ever her intention anyway. Just by her inspirational words every day...she would tell me about some great scripture she read in her daily readings or about something interesting they were doing in Bible study or at church. I would suggest the same approach, just by living by example, being positive and inspirational, she may decide to join you at church one day. In the pst if I felt someone was preaching to me or trying to convert me I would run for the hills!

Good Luck!

Katrina~
Thanks for your encouragement. I know exactly what you mean...no one likes to be preached "at" and made to feel bad. I truly want to build a friendship with this girl...she's really a neat person. That's so neat about your friend and your conversion. Congratulations on accepting Christ and I hope your new life and new walk are full of blessings and joy!

I'll just be myself and that should allow the Lord to do what he wants without me getting in the way! That seems to be how this all came about in the first place!
Have a great day & thanks, again!

Good morning!

I had a wonderful run this morning! It was raining out up until the point I went to leave... I would have raining or not, but the fact that it stopped was really nice. I found this awesome groove~ my perfect speed, perfect breathing, perfect thought process, and I really felt like God was right there, saying, "just go". It was amazing! I didn't want to stop. I could have ran for hours... if it wasn't for pre existing commitments.

Have a wonderful day, and praise Jesus all the way!!
