Anyone planning on Twin Cities Marathon or the 10 miler this year? This will be my fourth TCM and I already can't wait.

I will be running the TC 1 Mile on May 3rd and then the TC 10 Mile in Oct. I like how the Marathon has an event early in the season, It gets you exited and motivated to train for the big event in Oct. Good luck in your training this year.

Hey Hermosaboy,

I ran in the 5K on Sun, But I came back later and watched the top guns run the 8K. A couple of high school kids ran **** good.

The TC 1 Mile is a great race, the course down Nicollet is much better than the first year it was run.

See ya there

I'm moving back to the Twin Cities this summer. It's been a few years. I wasn't a runner when I left; is it good to run around the lakes, which ones? Itasca running club still active? Any others?

I can't wait to run along Summit Ave!

I usually run around Lake Harriet, Calhoun, and Lake of the Isles since they're close to where I live. Easy to adjust your milage (short or long) since all the lakes are connected by running paths with drinking fountains along the way. Harriet and Calhoun are the most popular with lots of runners and great people watching, especially once the weather gets warmer. Don't know about the running club though... I joined MDRA (MN Distance Runners Association) but haven't gotten up the nerve to do a group run with them yet.

Great input! It sounds great; I really can't wait. I'm a little shy about doing group runs with the big kids...I've done that with the running club here in PA but we have a "beginner's group" (read: slow group) that just does short runs mostly, with something like a 90-minute 10-miler on Saturdays. I'm sure I'll figure something out once I get there, I'm just getting ahead of myself because I can't wait! Did I mention I can't wait?

Hi mdvander,

I run around Normandale lake on my lunch break, its about a 2 mile loop.
But a good web site to visit is MAPMYRUN.COM
You can zoom in with a satellite view of Starlight Lake and map the exact course that you run.

Minneapolis here. I usually run in the city but have run in EP as I work out there. Starlight lake I am not familiar with but I have run around Staring Lake off of Pioneer. That is 2.2 around.

I'll be in MN (Princeton area) from 7/4 to 7/11. If anyone is in that vicinity or knows of a smallish race that weekend in that area, I'm all ears!. I will be staying with family and somewhat limited in my ability to drive places, so I'll need to stay local. Thanks.

Mankato, MN.

Running Grandmas as my 2nd marathon. Excited as I'm in much better shape this year compared to running Twin Cities.

It might snow today!

thanks for the info on those races. Unfortunately, I'm flying in the evening of the 4th, but did see there was the race in Blaine, which I would have been interested in since I graduated from Blaine and grew up there! I'll check into where some of those other 5K's are that you listed. I'm not familiar with some of those towns. Thanks again!
