I live in the burbs but there in the city is Kelly Drive, which would be your closest obviously, Fairmount Park (but not alone at night.....), Wissahickon Park.

PO, This saturday at 9:30 am there is going to be a large gathering of runners meeting at the front of the Art Museum, on the right as you face the musuem. They will be doing a group run with different paces and distances. This is supposed to be a larger than normal saturday gathering to celebrate the start of warmer weather weekend closing of MLK drive. I am sure that you would be able to get lots of info about places to run there.

Kelly Drive is ok if you like a crowded meat market. I'm a big fan of running down by the river (if you go behind the art museum like you're going to go down kelly drive, follow the path behind the waterworks). It's only about 4 miles to the end and back, but it's usually less crowded.

edited; there are a few philly people in the clubhouse, you might get a better response there.

It doesn't get much better than Kelly and West River Drives. Regardless that the Sausage King thinks it's a meat market, it's an amazing place to run....long, flat, paved, scenery. If the paved path has too much traffic, then run on the dirt/gravel. And remember, west river is closed to traffic on the weekends!

Re: Philadelphia,Center-City Runners
Try this - it's a little unorthdox, though:

Go SOUTH on 22nd street (AWAY from the parkway) to Lombard, turn right on Lombard to the end, curve up and around, go over the South Street Bridge, past Franklin Field, behind the Palestra, down Walnut St. and over the Walnut Street Bridge, back up to the Parkway and home.

It's been a while and I have no idea how far.
