Lynne, We got the balls signed at the pavillion at the end of the cerimony, just before they cut the cake. We just went up to the front row where all the original 10 milers sat and formed a long line...of course, we split the line up and crashed in the middle. I had a black (the one I donated) and red, white and blue one. A VERY good runner named Don also has a r/w/b ball. He has a PR of 51:?? at the Crim and said it was the same year as the women set the Crim record...told me she out kicked him on the bricks. I plan on hitting the expo again, (with Mizuno Elixirs going for $68, I can't resist.)
Not a riverstrider member, since I no longer live in Flint, I can't justify the 80 minute (total) time it would take me to drive and I am pretty dedicated to keep my running up so I just go solo all the time. (Though I could sure use some medical advice about this knee from some of the experienced runners they have)
I suggested they auction or have a raffle for the ball, I don't know when/if they are going to, but I read where Bobby Crim wished more $$$ would go to the special olympics and thought this publicity stunt should be able to get some extra $$$ for that cause. If they do, I'll be tempted to bid, it is beautiful looking with Bobby Crims signature centered on the ball in silver ink... I'll just have to wait and see what Lois decides to do with it.
Hope to put faces to names on Saturday!

That was a good race. A little humid, temps not too bad. I beat my last year time by 10 minutes, but didn't hit my pie in the sky. I started towards the rear and that was a big mistake. I had to dodge wall to wall slow runners for the first 3 miles. It seems like the pack never really thinned out. I think all the congestion definately effected my time. I had to jump to the grass or go off the road several times passing walkers. I love this race, but there are way too many walkers up near the front of the start line. I almost hate to say it is getting bigger then the roads can handle. In the future they may need to seed more people according to race pace. Similiar to the way they stage people at the Indy 1/2 marathon. No question, in my opinion, the Crim turns out the best eye candy of any race in Michigan. It must have something to do with being in the middle of the summer and the heat. It's all part of the total experience. I'll keep running this race for many years to come. Look out next year, I'm going to hit that pie for sure. Congrats to everyone here who participated.

Lynne, I haven't heard anything from shastadaisies so haven't been able to post the photo -- hope it shows up.

And about the weather: typical Crim I would say. It was actually a bit better than it's been the last two or three years. Not what I had hoped for after the previous cool mornings that we had, but about what I expected!
