I'll be travelling to Jackson next week and was wondering if anyone could tell where I could safely run?

Try the "multi-purpose trails" in Ridgeland, MS. Behind NorthPark mall, across from Indian Cycle. Off of Rice Road and Pear Orchard Road. Call Fleet Feet of Jackson and talk to Jeff or Wes and tell them Caleb said "Hi".
That should be plenty of information to get you somewhere.

I second skrunner1's recommendation. They are decent trails. I run a portion of them occasionally when I tire of the same loops in my neighborhood.
