Upstate NY runners?

Anyone in upstate NY? I'm in the Rochester area now, but originally from the Elmira/Corning area. Anyone else up this way?

I live outside of Buffalo, near Darien Lake. I race in Rochester a few times a year. Phelps sauerkraut 20k is this Saturday, and I am heading that way for my annual humiliation race.
There are others of us, in Newbies, and the Ultra thread.

Ithaca here. I don't race much, but am thinking abt the wineglass marathon. I'd think about it more if it wasn't so **** hot.

I'm in the Rochester area. Hello! :-) I know there's a good local runner's website, someone showed it to me the other day.

I wonder if there are others on here? I'm a newbie to running - just restarted in June. I'm gearing up for the challenge of running in the winter.

Re: Upstate NY runners?
I'm in Rochester, too (In the Park Ave. area). A favorite hobby of Rochestarians is complaining about Rochester. But the one thing we definitely can't complain about is the running community. It's more vibrant than almost anywhere I've been in this country. There are groups to run with pretty much every day of the week and there are tons of races. A lot of those groups are listed on the robertstech site. The groups runs from fleet feet all have a good turnout with a wide variety of paces: http://www.fleetfeetrochester.com/[/URL" target="_blank"> The oven door runs are great (if you're a morning person).

I encourage the person who was working up the courage to enter a race to just do it. You'll realize that it's not intimidating at all. Sure there are plenty of fast people. But there are lots of people running 10-11 minute miles. There's zero chance of being embarassed and you'll make some friends.

Cheers.

Another Ithacan... Building back from a hip-flexor/quad injury, so very low mileage. Want to do Wineglass some day. Love the Boilermaker.

Re: Upstate NY runners?
I'm in Rochester. There are lots of great places to run, plenty of groups to run with if that's your thing, some good running shops and lots of races. Winter running is really not that bad if you have the proper clothing. There are generally only a few days/winter that can be really rugged.
