Cincinnati/Indianapolis Runners

I am supposed to be in Cincinnati and then Indianapolis for Labor Day weekend -- the same weekend I need to get an 18 miler in, in preparation for my first-ever marathon in October.

Can anyone recommend a good place to go running? I can do the long run in either city by adjusting my schedule.

Is there a park, a running trail, etc.?

Something with mile markers would be ideal (I know I'm spoiled, living in Philly); being off the city streets with stop and go traffic is kind of a bare minimum requirement...

And, keep in mind that I'm a single woman running alone, so nowhere dangerous!

Thanks for any advice!

Depending on where you are staying in Cinci, there is a great trail(paved and marked and lots of shade) in Loveland. It is called the Loveland Bike Trail. I used it for my long runs for the Cinci marathon. It has 1/2 mile markers and plenty of parking right on the trail(I at mile marker 9). If you are interested, try googling it and let me know and I will see if I can get more info for you. Good luck

That is too funny that you are staying in Loveland. The web page you attached is the one I used to get there. If you click on the directions tab at the bottom, it will give you direction right to the parking at Nisbet Park. You are literally right on the trail. I would head north on the trail, as I think this is the most scenic side, and the mile markers will be going up on your way out. Good luck with your run.

Loveland is a great spot - the trail is flat and much of it is shaded. I park at Paxton's Grill, and will do a few miles in one direction, turn around and go back to my car to get a fresh bottle of water/Gatorade/whatever, and then do a few miles in the other direction. You can do that a few times - the north part of the trail is prettier in my opinion (as you park facing the trail, north is to the right). You'll have plenty of company as well. Enjoy it!

Couldnt agree more. I run on this trail every evening. Shaded, and flat, every 1/2 mile clearly marked. I pick it up in Oregonia and run towards Morrow and back.

Indianapolis has a great trail that I believe is marked. It is pretty popular, though I don't live near it so I haven't had the chance to run there yet.
