Atlanta Area Shoe Store?

Hi everyone,
I an looking for a shoe store on the north side of Atlanta (I live in Marietta). My shoes have turned psycho and I need a new pair. I've only been running about 2 months and am kind of intimidated by the shoe buying process (I typically buy the sale shoes at Dick's or Sports Authority).
Any tips on a good shop nearby? Also, how much should I expect to pay for a good (but not necessarily "professional runner") pair?

There are two very close together near Roswell Road and I-285 in Alpharetta, Fleet Feet and Phedippides. They're both good specialty running stores. Also Big Peach Running Company is on the north side of Atlanta, also very good.

Check out Big Peach Running Company?s new Marietta store. They?re in East Cobb on Johnson Ferry. Street address is 1062 Johnson Ferry Rd next to HiFi Buys and between Woodlawn & Lower Roswell.

They?re great for getting you set up with proper shoes and will take all the time you need. Very nice people there.

As for how much to expect to pay ? figure on anywhere from $60 to over $100 depending on the shoe you need. You?ll be able to see how different shoes correct for your feet on their video capture setup. And if the correct shoes seem expensive, think about how much your doctor?s co-pay costs when you end up with injuries due not having proper shoes?

I'm actually the manager of a running store in Peachtree City (south side of ATL) and while I couldn't expect you to come down here to buy shoes when you have all of those stores up by you, I can suggest the best store in the area up there. I know all of the guys who work at all of the stores in the city and up your way and I would suggest for the service and experience that you should go to Fleet Feet Atlanta. Take 285 to Roswell Rd. and take a left. Go about two miles and take a left on Johnson Ferry Rd. and they will be about 100m's down that road on the right.

Thanks very much to you all! I'm thinking about how much traffic I can stand this afternoon. I really hate 285 and Johnson Ferry Rd in the afternoons- but I wanna run in the morning!

Just to follow up. I went to Big Peach in Marietta last week and got some great shoes! It was not all that fun to see my fat ol' calves on the computer monitor/TV thing... but other than that it was great! Thanks again for the tips.

Also try Spike's Running, which is on Hwy 9 (Roswell Rd/Alpharetta Hwy) about 2-3 miles north of Mansell Road. The guy who owns the store knows SO much about shoes and he is very nice too. There is also a good mexican restaurant in the shopping center - "El Mexica Gourmet" which looks sketchy, but is really delicious.
