And they lost something terrible tonight...glad I don't root for them. LOL.

There was a bit of blue sky out Langford way today, but not for long. Rain is still better than snow...you don't have to shovel it.

MrsMama, are you thinking about doing the nanaimo 1/2 m as well? There's also the comox Valley 1/2 on the island as well.

Hey Beer...I think I want to try and do the one around town first before I go too crazy with 1/2's.

So glad I checked in here this evening. I am in Port Moody. I did the RVM this year for the first time and I have to say I was disappointed. I ran the Okanagan International Marathon 2 yrs ago and I will definitely do that again next year (they are on the same day). I have run the Vancouver Half and several other events around the lower mainland. I did grow up in Victoria (Saanich), but I love where I am now. So maybe now we have enough interested parties to actually sustain a BC thread......... Theother one[/URL" target="_blank"> keeps dropping!!

Yeah, I think Smithers/Terrace are definitly treadmill places. Think you'll ever make it down to the city for a race?

I managed quite a few runs outdoors last winter but we didn't have nearly as much snow.

I am planning to run the Van HM this spring. I promised my daughter (16) if she trains I will fly her out from Ontario to run it.

Maureen, I agree....let's try to keep this going. Even the Ontario thread is flagging these days.

Welcome Maureen. Glad you found our little group.

Why were you disappointed with the rvm? Is the okanagan in Pentiction, or Kelowna? I spent alot of time in Penticton as a kid so would love to do a race there.

<HR>

Well, thank you for the welcome! The RVM was touted to be highly organized and well run. I found there were not enough aid stations, the gatorade was really watered down and the post race area was woefully lacking in food and support! Could have just been a bad year because the weather was gloomy and wet too. It also could have had something to do with the fact I was waaaay under-prepared. The Okanagan International Marathon was amazing, I thought. Aid station every mile, great support and tons of post race food and support. I had a blast there and will do it again. Here[/URL" target="_blank"> is the info for the Penticton Half and 10k. The OIM is in Kelowna, and a really nice course, too. Sheeesh, one would think I work for the Running Room!! (I don't!)

Did anyone get into the First Half? I did.....woohoooo darn race sold out in about 12 hours!

Tigger, whereabouts are you? Lower mainland?

edited for being too tired.............

Hi Maureen, not lower mainland. I am near Smithers/Houston area.

This morning I did a 4 mile run in Smithers in very cold conditions. Ski hill is open here but I don't think too many people were on the montagne!

It's cold here too...I migrated into the gym today. Parts of the city have seen snow today...only a matter of time before it hits this neck of the woods.

sitting here watching the hockey game having a chilled glass of wine...what is everyone else up to?

PS It looks like I will be running in a lot of snow tommorow, we have a lot here right now and it's still snowing. How about else where? This is pretty early for this part of the world ha
