Re: Coolrunners are moving to runningahead.com in droves
Some are over there, just under different names.

I'm giving this site some time to clean things up, but in the current state I would not stay indefinitely. I must log in 2-3 times, and if I don't log in immediately I have to renegotiate through the forums to get back to the thread I wanted to reply to, and all this takes 5X as long as it used to due to how slow the site is.

People will always complain about change, but will cope. It's when the change is to an inferior system that people don't come back. In the current state of things, I feel this is an inferior site and despite frequenting here for years I just don't want to spend my time dealing with the format's problems when I could be participating actively with that time elsewhere.

Re: Coolrunners are moving to runningahead.com in droves

The old CR crew is pretty much evenly divided between Kick and RunningAhead. I'm registered with both but have been spending most of my time at RunningAhead because of the excellent running log. Both forums are equally good. They have already switched to a dedicated server to fix problems associated with the exodus of CoolRunners. The site was down for a couple of days and came back up better than ever. It can be done.

Re: Coolrunners are moving to runningahead.com in droves

It seems that it takes 3 tries to get logged in, but I assume that'll be taken care of; it's been just over a week. It's a pain but hardly worth throwing out the baby with the bath water.

Andy, I see that you've been making an effort to keep things going here, and I hope you continue. I figure that as long as I can log in and start or participate in a thread, that's the core of the site, so I'm sticking around and if people leave people leave. It's a shame but was caused by those who weren't willing to let the transition work out its bugs and those who followed them out of fear for being left out.

Yes, there are hordes of them over there. Around 100 I think, at least according to the CR refugee group membership. I checked it out, and actually like the site, but what the advocates of RunningAhead are not telling you is that the number of Cool Runners have slowed the site to a crawl. The RA veterans seem a little put off by it. The guy who maintains the site seems great, but he just doesn't have the bandwidth to handle all the new comers. Personally, I hope this board comes back.

Re: Coolrunners are moving to runningahead.com in droves
I haven't noticed speed issues over there. The response times have been great and actually, when I logged into Active today, if took over a minute. JUST TO LOG ON!! Don't get me wrong, I loved Cool Running. I miss all of the activity and members, but the community has changed. Maybe it will be for the better, but it all felt wrong to me. My posting the URL to the Long Haul group is to give folks who are missing some of what Cool Running's forums had a place to go and see if maybe they feel at home there. That's all. Also, Eric has upgraded to a new server to handle all the new Running Ahead members. Let's be clear.......you can't be a cool runner, if there is no more cool running. I guess you could be an Active Cool Runner. Cool Running is the site that got me running. The forum members, specifically The Long Haul, are the people who kept me running. I am where they are. We all went together and I think that is what matters most to me. If anyone else wants to come on over, you're welcome. New running ahead members are a good thing.

Ok, I believe my logs have been imported into Active, but I can't find a way to run a report telling me my mileage for the year? Anyone know how to do that?

Re: Coolrunners are moving to runningahead.com in droves

Bdag, you start a thread stating that CR's are moving to RA in droves. I stated my opinion that I think it's childish. The word childish couldn't be more self explanatory than it sounds. You stated your opinion I stated mine and because they differed you resorted to childish name calling.....Notice a trend here?

Re: Coolrunners are moving to runningahead.com in droves
Don't get too excited about RA. Just like we are upset about Active messing up CR...they are trying to figure out how to deal with the onsluaght of CRs. It's a little tense. Most of the people are pretty nice, but I haven't ever seen LRN take a beating on this forum like he did on RA. How anyone could get irritated with the guy is beyond me. I really liked it initially......keep both places going and really wait for everything to settle.

Re: Coolrunners are moving to runningahead.com in droves

I am not sure about droves? Last time I check the CR Refugee group had 125 members, hardly a drove. RA is not friendly place I found. Even the owner Eric noticed it.

Guys, I completely understand if someone wants to leave but check if the water is in fact warm there. What we really need is LRN back!!

Re: Coolrunners are moving to runningahead.com in droves

I went to runningahead forums. maybe it's the holiday season, but lets just say I am not jumping up and down in exitement.

I think coolrunning was one of best running forums, and I am truely sad at it's demise. I am a new runner and learnt a lot from the folks there.

Zeba, If you're a new runner, you should note that the Newbie forums are pretty active.
