Re: Montreal "cooler in winter" Runners

Hello everybody,

I just drop in to excuse for not being very active these days. I had a terrible rush at work. Moreover its the season where the type of positions I am looking for in Canada are posted ...

Now it's all over. My vacation started yesterday evening. And in 45 minutes the train will leave that will bring us to a city where TB would like to run a marathon. I will send a travel report after my return. Take care

Ralf

Re: Montreal "cooler in winter" Runners

Hi Gomez. I agree with your assessment of things (except for the Hydro bills).  We need to go for a run-as long as it's slow and not far.

Roly-aka the camelion- you keep changing your priorities faster tan I change my shorts. You can't hide from the speed workouts ol' boy wether it be on the road or on the trail.

Ninja. Nice to hear from you. You disappeared for a while. Thing I also heard a wimper from DR a short while back. She must have lifted her head out of the water long enough to give us a shout. I hope she doesn't wrinkle like a prune from all the swimming.

Did an easy 40 minutes last nite along the Lachine / Dorval waterfont. Strong headwind but warm. Body acted like a sail on the way back. Ribs very uncomfortable but as long as I don't pound out the pace I can tolerate the discomfort. Hopefully things will be better for the hills Monday night. Comin' Roly? How bout you Gro? Might enjoy the pain.....

Merc, Priorities have always remained the same "trail running" However the means to get there have been very confusing. I know that I need to work on developing other area, speed, LT and VO2. I just recently realized that I can work on speed and getting to be a stronger trail runner and enter the races that are truer to my dreams and not everyone elses. I really respect what other coolrunners want achieve
Boston, VT100, running the fastest half, 10K or an Ironman they are all amazing goals just not mine right now. For me right now ther is only ONE RACE. I will not be happy until I complete JAY. I have to do everything I can to get me to the finish line. It may take me a few years but I will do it. Point finale.

Monday this week with Phoenix is tough I'll try to make it but don't count on it.

RalfM:  Why do you tease me so?   My travels will bring me there one day  Good to hear from you.

As for myself, early start this morning 7:30am. Roly, I may end up seeing you on Olmstead My run bring me to Lafontaine Park, Jeanne Mance park and Olmstead so I'll be the goofy asian kid wearing yellow running around with the orange shades.

Light rain today with a mild 4 degrees. All I can say is that following the run, I'll smell  fragrant

Have a good one,

TB

Re: Montreal "cooler in winter" Runners

Thanks for the nice run this morning! That was great to get out there again, and I still made it back in time for the kids hockey game. I felt really good out there today! A nice pace, and great company!

So, I'll keep posted, and I hope everyone had a nice weekend! I won't be there tomorrow evening Mercury1, but maybe Wednesday.. We'll see.

Re: Montreal "cooler in winter" Runners

Lookin' forward to it Scott. BTW, Monday night is Ile Bizard, Wednesday is Lachine (Jetty). Sounds like you all had fun this morning. I wanted to join you all but had to meet a contractor up in Saint Lin at 10 !http://www.coolrunning.com/forums/redface.gif|src=http://www.coolrunning.com/forums/redface.gif|border=0!oam.

Found a trail today that I didn't know existed! Startd out at my place in Lachine and ran along the south side of the canal but diverted off at Clement St. in Lasalle, turning left on Des Oblats St. alongside the Mercier Bridge on ramp. Continued to the end of the street & turning left on Wanklyn going past Seagrams all on a grassy shoulder at the edge of some railway tracks. The tracks abruptly come to an end after crossing Neuman and there is the cutiest stone/grass train where tracks obviously used to serve Seagrams & Labatts. Very green, no cars or people in a very wide space between back fences on one side and Labatts & others on the other. Way cool!

As I only wanted to run about 75 minutes, I turned off at Dollard and headed to the bike path at 4 Towers (the beginning of the Aquaduct on the river, Lasalle Blvd.) and back to Lachine passing under the Mercier and back to the sixth ave. crossing in Lachine. I got the distinct impression that had I not turned  off, the trail would have gone as far as Angrignon Park / Metro but I could be wrong about how far. I am sure they go at least as far as the Lasalle Legion on Shevshenko and after that, who knows. It was fab Gro!! You'da loved it. It was starting to get too dark or I might have explored further in spite of doing the achy-breaky. Anyone have any other out-of-the-way places like that, that are mostly unknown?

Yes, nice run yesterday Truxx thanks for showing up, a little slippery on the old carriage road.

So this coming week-end Saturday on the Mountain may be best for me around 9:00 am. Anyone interested.

Still working on it... Honest. Have been working like a hound since I got back, and now the in-laws are in town! I will have something for you to read... I promise. It took until Thursday to walk up & down stairs without wimpering. Even played hockey on Friday night. Wanted to run this weekend, but the in-laws...

cheers all.

Thanks again Mars.
