Re: Montreal "cooler in winter" Runners
Well Since grommit sent me an e-mail he received from the RD at Jay mentioning that the Jay Challenge will no longer be at Jay and the RD is currently seeking a new venue (hopefully in Vermont) and there is a chance that the race may be postponed this year. I have been looking to find other races to fill the year. If there is no news by March first then I will switch to another dream for this year.
Possible races.

Champlain Classic 15 km in Vermont May 6

Re: Montreal "cooler in winter" Runners
Best wishes to everyone for the upcoming year. Health, wealth and time to enjoy both.

Roly: Whiteface. good times. Definately oodles of fun. Right DF?

As for myself, getting ready for the Hypothermic half in February, followed by Around the Bay in Hamilton in March before the marathon in April. Should be fun.

Which events are will you be running?

Re: Montreal "cooler in winter" Runners
Whiteface looks likely.

Well since the Montreal cool runners are all doing there own thing these days and no one confirmed to get together and run this week-end. Looks like I'm going to run in Ile Bizzard tomorrow morning with the Phoenix Running club.

Ahhh Df. You must have been in heaven! I think I will put on my stuff and do the same thing.

Roly. Did you run with Phoenix? I wasn't in the mood to drive out to Buzzard Island. I'll go from Lachine to the mountain & back (I hope).

Good day CR's.

Yep. Nice bunch of runners. Wow must have been about 25 of them. As a cool runner I must admit I'm feeling a little bit of Pheonix envy. Nice thing about being such a big group there is always someone there on the days they meet. Just show up and run. Just too far for me to be a regular especially on week night.

Re: Montreal "cooler in winter" Runners
...... that's what is! Phoenix envy..... these day my boss runs when he can, has no schedule, counts walkies as cross training and is still a fair ways from form....... however, he seems ok with that.... and he never really did the group thang anyways....

but meanwhile up on the mountain today, the conditions were superb up to his ankles in powder on some of the trail.... and everything else took about 50% effort.... ran from home and wow! was the trip up Wilderton tough in the salty slush... w/1 loop 1:42..... now if he can just sneak in an hour tomorrow he'll break the 40mile/week thing which is where he was before the flu from **** got him!

....later

Gro 'ol boy. I must have missed you. Ran from my place in Lachine up & around the Cross at the summit. Took an hour and six minutes, arriving at 1:00pm. Got back to Lachine at 2:12pm. Bit cold on the hands on the way back, otherwise uneventful. Lots of runners but none that I recognized. Too bad.

Roly. Glad you had fun. They are a great gang. Like you, I find it a bit far and since the weekend is one of the times I actually manage to get some sleep, I prefer to stay closer to home. Besides, medication routines nessessitate that I be close to home for an hour to 11/2 hours before daring to leave the house. (don't ask, you don't want to know....)

Happy New Year early everyone!

Ile Bizzard is a nice place to run, but my training will have to be on Mount-Royal trails on the week-ends I'm itching to start again and can't wait for the spring. I'm already dreaming of running on Mont St-Hilaire again.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL THE MONTREAL COOL RUNNERS. Hope you all meet your PB's for the year.

Re: Montreal "cooler in winter" Runners
Shame on you if you haven?t been out in this fabulous weather this morning?jeez, sound like someone else on here. Mercury is the only one with a hall pass Apparently won't be this nice later nor tomorrow.

You know it?s a good run when you leave the house on ?Dirty deeds done dirt cheap? and skid into the local supermarket an hour later howling along to the Stones, red cheeks, drippy nose, toque askew..got to love it.

Happy new year to you all, got to stretch and shower.

Re: Montreal "cooler in winter" Runners
Just came back from my last run this year. Unfortunately, the weather is not as nice as it is in good ole MTL. However, it was dry and not at all cold (maybe 7 C). While I was running, twilight was c oming along and everything was turning blue. I love to run at this time of the day. Did something around 5km at an easy speed to draw a line under this year.

I wish everybody a nice evening and a good beginning of the next year.
Happy running

Ralf

Re: Montreal "cooler in winter" Runners
An hour on the Mountain trail this morning with another trail loving Montreal cool runner (Geuss who). I love those trails but need work on the slippery snowy uphill trail running thing whew, lots of work.
Best thing about running on Mount Royal is the quick stop on the way home at Fairmount for two dozon bagels and cream cheese.. Oops gotta work on that weight loss, next year.
Well fat, happy, healthy and running again it's gonna be a good start to the new year,
