Greeneggs--I've run up to six miles at a 10 min./mile pace. My shorter, faster runs are a little faster (9:45), while most of my long runs are more like 11 min/mile.

Do you live near the Highlands? I'd love to try out that group, but seeing as it's still 80 degrees at 7 pm, I might wait until the temps cool down a little (75?)

Haha, I was wondering the same thing! Some of my friends are doing the Buckhead Sizzler on Sept. 29th but unfortunately I'll be in Florida for a wedding that day. I will probably do the Four Seasons Run for Research on Sept. 15th. I ran the 5K last year and really enjoyed it, plus it's for a great cause. I just can't bring myself to run a 10K that is two loops around the same course, so I'll do the 5K again (and hopefully improve on last year's time!)

Several of us have moved to the other forum and tend to post there for the most part.

Nah, it has more to do with we've just gotten used to posting over there and don't drop in as much over here anymore. Today's my first day to look in here in a couple of weeks.

But speaking of funny smells, looks like the Dawgs may have more players in the county jail than on the field opening day.

GO JACKETS!

I meant to ask this awhile ago, but do any of y'all have the Nike+ system?

If so, it would be fun to do an Atlanta challenge.

There is a Nike challenge between Georgia and Georgia Tech fans beginning September 1 and ending 11/24 for the upcoming football season.

The UGA/GT challenge sounds cool. Besides, I work at Tech, so I should probably pull my weight.

What is the other forum that you were talking about?

As for what's next, I was trying to decide if I wanted to get in on a 10k in the next few weeks (maybe the Run for Life in Kennesaw), but I think I may just wait until later and go for the ATC Singleton and Buckhead Sizzler races. I'm signed up for the Chickamauga Marathon in Nov., so I could use the races to work on my race pacing...

I don't own an ipod..nor would I run with one if I did (except on the dreadmill...which it has to be impossible to run outside in order for me to do so)..and nothing against anyone who does run with one...but as far as this UGA/GT thing..can I still just log my miles and it count? My marathon training can really help my dawgs out!!

I don't actually ever run with it in my ears- it messes with my pace and sensory awareness, so I don't like to run with music (and I have this somewhat irrational fear of being run-down by a car...it is Atlanta after all).

I do run with the ipod, just not with the earphones; I just tuck it in my key pocket in my shorts 'cause you have to have the ipod and receiver to track the sensor on the shoe. The upside is that it automatically sends the workout information to the website, so I can see my workout history and make notes for routes/conditions even though I'm too lazy to keep a running journal.

The last time I checked there was no way to manually upload stuff, but I'll keep an eye out and let you know if they start.

Bear in mind you do not have to wear Nike shoes to use the system. There are 3rd party players out there that sell a pouch you can attach to your shoelaces that will keep the sensor fairly secure.

The Nike ipod tracking system is much more beneficial than the Garmin if you are running trails or will be running an extended race - 50 mile or more event as the battery life of the Garmin would not last for the race for a lot of runners.

That being said I still find the Garmin more beneficial in the vast majority of my runs that do not involve trails.

Good point 770. I still run in my Mizunos and use a shoe pouch for the sensor- it seems to work just fine.
