Bring Back the Cool Running Log!!!

OK - a suggestion for Active....

You apparently bought out Coolrunning.com to get ahold of it's users - but you probably didn't realize that it's users were there for it's greatest capability - it's simple yet effective running log. You apparently have nothing like it with your terrible ACTIVE CALENDAR - which is basically a piece of ****.

So just activate the cool running log features within your site - call it the new Active Calendar - it's the only way you will keep these users.

Just ask the coolrunning users if they want this - because it's very apparent you need some advice - you know how to reach me....

I agree completly!! Yes, its money driven. Buy the members for pennies and squeeze 10 bucks out of everyone you can. The calender is BS. It would be simple to merge the Cool Running log into the site. Everyone needs to speak up. And remember, Active, this forum only represents a small fraction of the users who take the time use it.

Waaaaa. My hiking and skiing and other custom workout type data didn't get converted.

I wish I were worry about the feature deficit right now.

Also to Active:

Wow. Who's behind you? Did any one think to actually set up a test site and get users feedback. Do any of you even have a clue about how to keep a customer? One of the saddest things I've ever seen.

Re: Would You Like to See the Coolrunning Log Features?
Re: Coolrunning running log

Re: so where do I find my Cool Running log?

http://www.coolrunning.com/cgi-bin/log/display.cgi?u=myusername;s=coolrun

Substitute your username in the address where it says "myusername" and delete the ";s=coolrun".

Thank You Janinsanfran!!!!!!! I had a lot of memories that I though were gone forever. Interestingly, I was able to use the old log and update my weekend runs before exporting. I wonder if this portal to the glorious past will remain viable???

You can use the old "Tools" to export your log.

My thanks to MBFLETH and all of those who posted the URL's. I was finally able to get to my data and download it. I now have it safely in my possesion in an EXCEL file on my thinkpad. Now I can stop using yellow sticky POST-IT notes to log my workouts.

All I can say is WOW...what a PR DISASTER for CR. I hope the BRAIN TRUST at CR quickly figures out that they need to bring the old LOG back ASAP or they are gonna lose a LOT (I mean A LOT!!) of constituent users who loved the simple and yet effective tool they had ...INCLUDING this one.

PS. Note to the CR BRAIN TRUST - have you visited running ahead.com lately? It would seem they are well prepared to capitalize on your GREVIOUS ERROR IN JUDGEMENT - Just looking at their home page "GREETING TO COOL RUNNING REFUGEES" and their offer to upload OUR data. Take a look for yourself: http://www.runningahead.com/

I vote as well for the old log - I tried the URL trick to download my old running information and was unable to do so! I liked being able to track miles per pair of shoes, so I didn't get too many miles on them before replacing them. And, I have running history back to 2001.

oh man this site sucks so bad. Even making a response in this thread takes minutes to navigate. I had to login twice to reply to rok's post .

Rokudon it's obvious what happened here...Dave just sold out in a huge way and screwed all the loyal users of the old great coolrunning log.

His posts on the transition show utterly cluelsss he is. He losts thousands maybe tens of thousands of users over the the first quarter of 2008 permanently but why should he care he sold out.

The main complaint of us old loyal coolrunning users is that this new ActiveTrainer log sucks ***. I would'nt recommend that log to my worst enemy.

Btw you can still use the old coolrunning log but it is sad to know that at any time it can be pulled down for good.

I was and still am a huge fan of the coolrunning log and I would hate to admit it but I would pay $100-$200 a year even to use it.

I pleaded with Dave and the mods here to make the old log available somehow even for a fee but as you know they dont even acknowledge that the old log is an issue.

Guess what Active your log sucks and I will never use it ever. Your entire site is slow as ****. I also will never ever pay Active.com for anything because I'm so ****** how they handled this. I still check in weekly to hope that somehow the old log will be made available on Active.com but it doesnt look like that is going to happen.

Maybe someone could set up a new url with code similar to the old log.. I'm sure thousands would pay for it.

Hey Active how about selling the old log please?!

Anyways I still am loyal to the old coolrunning log. I will use another log when they pull it down permanently. This whole situtation makes me very angry because the log was integral part of my life. The old log was awesome for logging cross-training activities. Many of us would pay to use it.

What is most annoying is that Dave and Activce.com have said nothing about the main bone of contention here- the old coolrunning log. The ActiveTrainer log is unusable and would have to be scrapped completely and rebuilt for me to take a look at it again.

How the heck do you make multiple bs statements on the "transition of to active" and not address the love we all had for the old log . What a huge retarded mess these guys made of this transition...hey Dave guess what you blew the transition ..that's all and Dave and ActiveTrainer you log is unusable..this isnt 1997 anymore. Did you really think thousands of us would transition over to that clunker.

Active seduced Dave withe the cash and Dave forgot what was important to his users...Meantime Dave pockets cash ,feels some guilt, but Active overpays huge for what is now tens of thousands of lost users to other running log sites.

Dave you **** hope it was worth it-hehe. Actually Dave I'm an entrepreneur myself so I can understand you grabbing the dollars for yourself and family I'm sure you initially had honest intentions because coolrunning was a great site BUT you should know you made thousands of runners/atheletes miserable by the way you closed this deal.

Kurt ask one of the mods to walk you thru the process of at least saving your old data from the old log- then you can upload it to a different log like running2win or runningahead or if you dare the ActiveTrainer log.

Thanks for the suggestion - I found a post showing how to log into the old log and downloaded my log. I uploaded it to runningahead and will be checking out their log to see if it's better than the one here.

keep on running,

Hey guys,

I tried the method with the URL and changing the login/password but I keep getting a "Sorry, but we couldn't find a record for member name"

Anybody else had this problem?

Yep, I tried the link too, and got this message: "The member name and password combination you entered is incorrect. Please click your browser's Back button to try again. If you have forgotten your member name and/or password, click here for an e-mail reminder. If you have not yet registered, "

Aside from the log, which I mainly used to track shoe miles, I had a VERY difficult time registering for a race! I logged in, found the race, clicked to register, was asked to log in AGAIN, and the demographics prefilled with "unknown" in the first and last names. I edited my profile to reflect my actual info, tried to register again for the race, and again, UNKNOWN. I logged out and logged back in a few days later, again, UNKNOWN. I couldn't sign up for a race under "unknown", so I logged out and registered as a guest, using the same email address I am registered under as a member. Active didn't recognize this, so my upcoming race is not shown in my profile.

Because of my frustration, I put off registering for the race a few days, hoping I was just caught up in an active.com technical glitch that would be worked out. In doing so, I passed the deadline of a lower race registration price. I paid $5 more than I would have had I been able to register properly the first time, plus of course, the active.com $3 "CONVENIENCE" fee.

This transition has been a hassle not worth bearing. I'll definitely seek another site which is smaller and caters to a runner.
