Hi,

From my member name you might tell I'm from long Island, on the south shore in Suffolk. Can't help you with any info on running clubs around the New Hyde Park area. But, there are some great races out east.

Joe

Hey runnergrl-
Are you involved in any running clubs in Queens? I currently live in Queens and have been thinking of joining a club. I would welcome any suggestions/recommendations. Thanks!

Hey ChristaM

I actually train with my high school right now so i am not involved in any Queens clubs. and over the past 2 summers i mostly ran with the PSAL funded cross-country camp program or on my own.
however last summer i did become a member of Quantum Athletics (or, Quantum Feet Road Runners) and did several of their weekly runs of 6-7 miles on Tuesdays at 7pm. these runs are open to all so you should give it a shot

they also have longer runs on weekends but i didnt not do them. they are VERY nice people, and the running store, Quantum Athletics (Fresh Meadows) provides really great service.

that is all i can tell you about queens clubs though. i would have joined another club if i didnt have the PSAL practices, because obviously two runs a week isnt enough for me.
thats why I was looking into New Hyde Park RR for when I move to Floral Park, because I will be starting college next fall and dont know if i will be eligible for the PSAL practices (or if i will even be able to get to them) and therefore I might have to run more on my own.

I was thinking about starting doing my Sunday runs now with a club, since i do an easy 9-10 mile run almost every week. but for the past 3 or 4 months i have been doing them all at Juniper Park. I actually really like it and i never get bored.
Do you ever run there? I do about a mile and a half on the track and then a loop on the park (~1.25 miles) and repeat. and time really flies. (but then again that may just be my weirdness. a lot of people think it would be too boring) I for one usually hate repeating, loop-type runs. so it is surprising that this has been working out for me.

I've heard of Quantum Feet's club and was considering joining it. I paln to make my first foray down to their store this weekend...

Juniper Park-- about what neighborhood is that in??? (I've only been living in Queens for 4-5months) I could use to find a track to do some speed workouts. I mostly run over in the Flushing Meadows/Corona Park area. There is a really nice loop around a pond towards the south end. Closest thing to "the Reservoir" that we have around here I suspect, but prettier, because their are geese and ducks and plants that grow at the water's edge. A little muddy in spots along the trail though from all the rain lately.

Thanks for the info runnergrl!

Hello guys and girls I'm Paul I go to school on Nassau Blvd and would gladly run with someone one or two days a week. Think Wed is the best day, mornings or evenings. Also do many races in Central Park. I'm very encouraging especially in these cold days. email me if you so desire, and good luck with your running.

ChristaM,
I live in Forest Hills, Queens. I mostly run in Flushing Meadow park. I was thinking of starting a running club in the Forest Hills/Rego Park/ Few Gardens area. Email me and let me know if you might be interested.

Scott,

It's definitely going to be cold on the boardwalk. The weather is going to stay cold for at least the next 7 days.

Good luck
