Re: Maine Runners
Any runners joining in the fun at the Mid-Winter Classic this Sunday in Cape Elizabeth? Today's weather is predicting the temp at the start of the race will be 4F w/a NNW windchill. Bring it on.

Re: Maine Runners
I am registered for the 10 Miler. The latest forecast calls for an overnight low of 15F with an expected high of 24F. That isn't unusual for February. Best of luck in the race to all.

Re: Maine Runners
I'll be there as well, and the temps don't look all that bad for this time of year. Just dress accordingly and you shouldn't have a problem.

Hey Brian hopefully I'll see you there tomorrow, did you run at all today (Saturday)? I did an easy three since our group didn't get together, it all worked out anyways. It allowed me to sleep in a bit and then clean the driveway and sidewalk before heading out for my three miler.

Good luck to all those running tomorrow.

Thanks windwarrior.

Hey Bob. Cross training today...well standing behind the snow blower at 6:15 this morning and nine hours at the store. I'll bet it was a great day to run, aren't they all?!

See you in Cape Elizabeth.

Re: Maine Runners
The Mid Winter 10 Miler was quite a race. Cold, windy, lots of hills and over one hundred more runners than last year. I understand because it is a Maine USATF event there were more "heavy hitters" than at your typical race. It was a good workout and I finished a minute slower than last year (1:11:15). I suppose I could blame that on the wind or the temperature being about thirty degrees colder than last year or maybe I should have pushed a bit harder?!?

For another perspective read Bob Scamman's post here[/URL" target="_blank">.

My next Maine race will be the Irish Road Rover or the Kerryman Pub 5K. See you there.

Re: Maine Runners
Hello Everyone........

I just want to let all you Maine Runners know of a worthy 5K Road Race taking place. Its called the "Hot Pursuit" 5K Road Race, and the date of it is May 6th. This race is dear to me for several reasons.

The money goes to two worthy causes. The Brunswick Police Benefit Association so we can sponsor local community youth programs and sports teams, local resource organizations, and other charitable causes. The second worthy cause is The Chapter of COPS Concerns of Police Survivors. The Maine Chapter of C.O.P.S. provides resources to assist in the rebuilding of the lives of surviving families of law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty.

So if you are available on May 6th, check out the race events on CoolRunning at look for "Hot Pursuit" 5K Road Race. This race is unique being that it has a Civilian and a Law Enforcement Division. We are in the process of getting the course USATF certified and should be completed by the race date!

The other reason why this race is important to me, is that its the first time I have organized a race.

So come and join us for a great time.

Thanks

Re: Maine Runners
My Maine runners! I've been looking for you all! I haven't joined any track clubs yet, but I need a running buddy. I'm out in Gorham, Me. Know any one looking to group run out here in the country?

Re: Maine Runners
Hey all, I was just perusing and noticed the Maine thread was about to slip off page one so I figured I would bump it up.

Sorry artluvr, too bad you didn't live out this way. We have a great group that meets every Saturday & Sunday for some really nice runs.

I had planned on doing the Kerrymen's but have to back out (my anniversary) which was still doable, but also my youngest grandson's 1st birthday party. Can't miss that, it only comes once! I am however also considering running Eastern States this year as a tune up for Boston. Other than that I am also keeping my race schedule pretty clean until after Boston then it takes off!

Re: Maine Runners
Sweet! A maine runners group...I thought i'd have to dig through pages to find something like this, but I guess not. I run for MDI high school, although i'm not very good. But I plan on running quite a bit this spring / summer to get better for XC since I wish to take running a bit more seriously now, rather than just a way to stay in shape. Well hey to all the Maine runners!
