Hi Sara,

Thanks for trying to help, but you guys just don't seem to get it. You've taken away a lot of the features that made Cool Running so cool.

You said:
You can view historical data in a number of formats on Active Trainer.
Your calendar allows you to see workouts (with varying levels of detail) in a month, week and day view.
Click on "Reports" in the top navigation to access your Training Log, showing side-by-side planned vs. actual data in a weekly view
Dig deeper by clicking on the Training Stats tab, which allows you to graph aggregated stats such as training volume.

(with varying levels of detail) ie, a week at a time. Your reporting feature is basically bobbins. Did anybody from Active actually navigate through the old system? Because if they did then there is no way they would have attempted to lump us with this new "upgraded" system.

Maybe in time you guys can fix the bugs. In the meantime, I predict you will lose every single former Cool Running user.

Regards,
Alan

So I was able to use the backdoor method to get into my coolrunning log today and downloaded it to my computer, so at least I have the data that I had thought was gone forever. Strange thing too...I was able to enter date on the coolrunning page, how long until that is completely gone?

Active Sara,

I can absolutely understand the need to move the logs and blogs over to Active, but it's not just a case of getting used to something new. The Active log is clearly not an upgrade as claimed.

Suggestions to keep CoolRunning folks happy.

#1 I can't get all my data to transfer. It seems sporadic- missing about every third day or so.

#2 Add Tempo, Intvl, Rep Long Run to selections for INTENSITY. (What's the difference between conversational and easy pace?)

#3 Add the ability to log which route I took on my run.

#4 (VERY IMPORTANT) Add shoe tracker to log page.

#5 Add the ability to see weekly/monthly/yearly mileage totals. Also, everyone likes the graphing tools too.

Basically, I want to be able to go to one page and handle all my log data entry. This wouldn't actually allow Active to claim it is an upgrade, but at least it would alow us Cool Runnings folks to feel more at home.

It would have been nice if Active got input from users before the switch … only my runs exports … not the hundreds of other workouts. I have a huge Shoe data list that looks like this:

Mizuno Wave Creation 8 5 miles

Mizuno Wave Creation 8 5 miles

Mizuno Wave Creation 8 15 miles

Mizuno Wave Creation 8 5 miles

Mizuno Wave Creation 8 5 miles

Mizuno Wave Creation 8 20 miles

and on and on and on with no totals … but apparently on day this summer I ran 134 miles in my Gel Landreths

I was able to get my log stuff using PapaB's method...Thanks.

I tried getting my info merged from one system to the other but when I logged back in I never could see a log...anywhere...ever. And...you may think I'm a tech dweeb, but I am and have been a data engineer for a CLEC/Telecommunications company, so I'm no stranger to any of this. This site is just a. non-functional b. non-intuitive c. sucky compared to CR. Anyway, I wish we (all the old CR users) could find one single place where we all could go and start over... :(

bye bye Active....

Response to ActiveSarah - I am sure your team has worked very hard. BUt, no offense, the ActiveTrainer log is garbage.

CoolRunning has routes, with known distances. I could graph my pace over years by routes. ActiveTrainer does not. How can campare apples to apples?

CoolRunning has sneaker/route association. CoolRunning could graph more than just 12 months. CoolRunning could download logs and I had Excel tools to analyze them. ActiveTrainer comes up short on all these. There isnt even a way to quickly fetch a PR on a known course. I worked my tail off to post good numbers, and now its all gone. It is very, very upsetting. I would pay cash to get my old online CoolRunning tools back. You hear me? Cash opportunity waiting for you...

I embrace change as well as anybody. But the simple truth is that CoolRunning, although it was pretty simple, was significantly more versatile and useful than the ActiveTrainer session. I dont log my heartrate... I run trails, who care about my heart? I want to know how fast I am in hot vs cold, rain vs dry, in new sneaks vs. old sneaks. Your website is greared towards people with an interest in cardiology. Us simple purebread runners get a lot of things we dont need, and nothing we do, from ActiveTrainer. In this case, the change is for the worse, and once I get my old running log I am out of here.

Thanks from me as well!!!! Not only was I able to get the past data, I was able to add the past several days and then do the download.
I also printed out many graphs. I use those graphs when going to to doctor to reveiw the health of my lungs. I graphed my distance, pace and heart rate. Having the heart rate blended in to the comments loses any graphing abilities. I am really sorry to lose those so much.

I also had a goal to run more miles than any previous year. This was very easy to check in cool running.

The week view of cool running was so easy to follow. At the bottom was a summary of the week, month and year. Now as you look at the monthly caledar all it tells you is that you ran that day. The weekly view provides a bit more info but no summary plus most of the run info is missing. very disappointing.

I am usually quite an optomist, and I was not worried about his upgrade, but boy was I wrong. I am so dissapointed in the new site. As so many hav e already said it is not intuitive, It is not friendly. I am only a 4 year runner but I found cool running right away and have loved it. Now we are all stuck...

Currently my plan is to add my additional workouts to my excel file. I'll create some graphs for my doc and track my week, month and yearly miles myself.

I am bummed........

PapaB,

Your post is one of the most valuable things I've found on the web in quite a while. Thanks to you, I was able to recover SEVEN YEARS of running data, or 1024 workouts (yeah, I'm a slacker). Maybe you can imagine how precious this data is to me.

For now I'm happy to have the data saved on my computer. I'll watch Active Trainer to see if it's usable, or look for alternatives. I started using a Garmin Forerunner and some people in forums rave about the "SportTracker" log program, so I'm going to look at that, too.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!

How do you "grab your shoe totals"? Do you just have to look up the last entry for each pair of shoes, or is this displayed in one place or available for download somewhere?

Thanks,

Has anyone tried this lately? I just recently found this thread and I can't get it to work for me, help me please! I want my log back. I was stupid enough to think all of this information would have made it over through Active's transfer and didn't download it first. I am sooooo sad. If anyone is listening (if they even post this) pleas help, I have at least two years worth of information I need.

Thanks so much

I too am very disappointed in this new log! The only thing I can suggest is we keep complaining and maybe they will listen and go back to exactly what we had!!! HELLLOOOO! IS ANY ONE LISTENING!
