RG Yeah I should be ready. They give a very generous cutoff time of 15-16 hours to finish. So the plan is to start off slow and slowly get slower.

Invitation to alll Coolrunners.

TB and I will be meeting with a local accomplished Ultrarunner at Hurley's on June 4, 2007 at 6:00 pm. all are welcomed to join us. This should be a great a motivator the week before Pittsfield.

Roly

Hey Roly,
I went for a run on pavement this morning, so I won't be joining you for the mountain. Have fun, if you go!

Well, I tried sucking it up yesterday and sneaked out the house for a run. Worse thing I could of done. Feeling worse today, spent the day drugged up and on my back.

...sounds like an ex-girlfriend. Good times...

Too bad about the poor health, Roly. Can't wait for another mountain run, long runs on asphalt is painful.

Well I am back after a week of not running and eating like a crazy woman.

I've been having problem sleeping. I am turning and turning all night long and I just can't seem to be getting over it. I am not stressed out and nothing is on my mind. I just don't know what it is. My boss (a doctor) told me to stop running at night and do it in the morning instead. It would be a really good thing but right now I am not getting enough sleep so I am not really into getting up earlier in the morning. Well I'll manage if I want to keep running.

Easy 30 minutes run today. The weather is so nice...

I am thinking of doing another 5k in a couple of weeks, any suggestions? I was looking at St-Bruno or Course d'été des Iles in Boucherville.

Have a nice one! Any

Happy Birthday KJ! I know it's a bit late, but I have a good excuse. The last four days I was in Tours, France. Ok, more precisely I was two of the last four days in Tours and the other two days I have passed in the car driving there.

Even more belated: Congratulations to the YMCA runners. Any, KingZ, you made an important step.

Sally - big hugs from Europe!

I have been doing a lot of driving recently. Before the Tours-tour, I participated at a one day running-seminar in the "Lüneburger Heide". This seminar was given by a sports-medecine who has developed a lot of ideas about running technique and form. TB would probably like it. It's a long the same lines as Romanoff. I went there to find out, whether my recurring shin problems could be related to some deficits in my running technique. However, seems notto be the case. My work on running form during the last year was worth the effort. Next thing to check will be my orthotics and shoes. I learned a lot more about pronation than you find in the usual articles. Looks, like it is not all sure whether my orthotics (custom made to doctors order) are correct and whether I really should wear shoes with pronation control. Take care

Ralf

Sorry to butt in but I have a question....anyone know a good running store near Ville-St-Laurent??? My knees started hurting and I think it might be my shoes. Last time I went to Sport Expert to get my shoes...Bad Bad Bad idea.

Thank you

Yanika, In Pointeclaire behind fairview you have a Running room store. There is also two running stores on St-Denis street, Boutique Endurance and Boutique Courir.

Ok so this is todays update on the Pittsfield site. They were marking the trails over the week-end. Gro we will have to plan drop bags and bring headlamps they recommend it. This should be a great traing run for your VT100. I don't know what it is for me.

Ultramarathon Solo runners only - 53 miles. 24 hour time limit.
Death Division Solo runners only - 10 miles. 24 hour time limit.
Hints: Barbed wire, mud boggin, wood chopping, rope climbing, wheel barrow building, tunnel trekking, deep water diving, running, crying, screaming, and sweating! Doubtful you'll finish.
Relay Three person teams - 53 miles. 24 hour time limit.
Runners can do as much or as little as they would like as long as all three participate and you make your relay exchanges at a check point. Race management needs to know who is in the woods at all time.

Course:
Start will be at Amee Farm and the finish will be at Riverside Farm.
Race course will be on country roads, logging roads, NFS roads, snowmobile trails, and rugged single track trails. You will see the same aid station after Contest/Wilcox section (mile 12), again after Hayes Brook Loop (mile 18) and again after Bloodroot Mountain (mile 37). You can have a drop bag at this station. The aid station will have water, HEED, soda, and ultra snacks. The second main station will be at Riverside which you will see after Hedgehog (mile 41) and after South Hill loop (mile 46) and at the finish (mile 53). You can have a drop bag at this station as well. There will be a few water only aid stations at approx. mile 6, mile 25, and mile 31. There will be a short river section at the end of the race.
Pittsfield Peaks Distances and Elevations:

Contest Trail (Wilcox Mtn) - 12.96 miles - 2787 vertical
Hayes Brook Loop - 6 miles - 957 vertical
Bloodroot Mtn. - 19.89 miles - 4670 vertical
Hedgehog - 3.79 miles - 700 vertical
South Hill - 4.43 miles - 1508 vertical
Joe's Hill (Sable Mtn) - 7.08 miles - 3383 vertical
53 MILES - 14,005 vertical
