Re: If you cannot get your log, try this
We are interested in improving the site and helping our users get the best experience possible, which is why the Shoe Tracker is a free feature as of a couple weeks ago due to user feedback. If you have lost data please let me know by private message. The data can take up to 24 hours to upload and so far this process has been successful. We do appreciate your feedback and are working with all of the information we receive to work on continued improvements. Thank you.

Re: If you cannot get your log, try this
Was anybody else able to get to a page where they could actually log their runs using coolrunning.com? I don't know if this is unusual or not, but I was able to actually log my runs. Does anybody know how much longer this will be available? Forever would be nice.

Re: If you cannot get your log, try this

Sara, give up on the sunshine.

There's no reason for us to keep our logs on a site that doesn't have an export feature to avoid such a foobar in the future.

I remember my first track coach...

Half the time he said, "it's not that I don't believe you, it's that I don't trust you."

And the other half of the time he said, "it's not that I don't trust you, it's that I don't believe you."

Trust but verify.

And there's no reason to keep a running log on a site that doesn't have an export feature.

The fact that you lost everybody's cross-training data in the conversion is just insult to injury.

And the feature deficit is a shame.

Give up on the sunshine.

Give folks good guidance on how to put their logs on runningahead.com or else where.

Or get Cool Running back while you still have a few users.

Re: If you cannot get your log, try this

Ok. I was finally able to access the coolrunning log through the backdoor. For me, I had to switch browsers (from IE) to Firefox in order for it to work. Thanks so much for the good advice.

I also received an email from Sean Griffin at coolrunning.com (coolrun@coolrunning.com), whom I had emailed earlier with my complaints. To his credit he simply sent me an exported version of my log. Hurray to him for taking the time to listen to custome complaints, and acting swiftly to correct them. If anyone still can't get in through the backdoor I recommend emailing the address above.

After my recent longish post I finally received a response from active.com's customer service (shown below). They need 24-72 hours to do what I did in 10 seconds, and what Sean Griffin did for me today. At least they're responding, and freeing up our information. I'll give them that much.

Regards to everyone for the help and support. I'm off to running2win, where the webmaster has already integrated my coolrunning data for me.

Dave

Re: If you cannot get your log, try this
leendert and PapaBanucci, thanks for your efforts. I have been able to export all my CR data to a spreadsheet. I have even accessed my old CR log, entered and saved runs and rides. I'm also updating the spreedsheet in parellel long enough for Active to come to their senses and go to the CR log or I decide on another site suggested by other posters on the forum. But I will NOT stay here with the current calender log.

Re: If you cannot get your log, try this
Thanks everyone for your help on this. I was able to download over 5 years of data and can now take it anywhere. And anywhere I shall go.

I was really hoping to give Active.com a try. Maybe even consider the premium features. I am willing to invest a little. Buy yeesh! No weekly, monthly, yearly totals! How can I compare across seasons?

No export feature? No routes?

But you have fields for my sleep patterns? My stress levels?WTF?

I even thought I had conquered the learning curve and logged a couple of runs. Then just today I realized that I really never RAN those runs, I just PLANNED them. Now I have to COMPLETE them. Again, WTF???? Who does that?

Coolrunning got it right. Runningahead seems to get it right. Keep it simple!!!!

Re: If you cannot get your log, try this

If Active was worried about my "sleep patterns," they'd have a feature for me to export my log. No way will I use a site that doesn't let me export my log so I can take it with me where ever I go for months and years to come.

That plus losing my cross-training workings is grossly unacceptable.

Re: If you cannot get your log, try this

For those who figured out how to log into Coolrunning and export data, thank you so much! I just downloaded 5 years worth of data. I guess I should have done it in advance.

I used to log at Runnersworld until they did away with their log, but I was delighted to go to Coolrunning and find what a great running log was available there. Perhaps that will happen again. The log at runningahead.com looks promising. Nevertheless, I thought the Coolrunning log was fantastic, and I'm disappointed they did away with a great thing.

Re: If you cannot get your log, try this
Oh man THANK YOU Leendert, you saved my bacon! :) As everyone is saying, now I can be done with this piece of garbage site. It's really a shame the CR community will be broken up into so many places - but it sure as heck is NOT going to be here.

Re: If you cannot get your log, try this
YES! Thanks for the suggestion - I finally saved my log. What a
relief - now I can transfer my data to another site that, since there's
no way I'll be using this one. Sorry "Active", but there isn't a force on earth that could convince me to stay after all of this.

Re: If you cannot get your log, try this
This worked! The thought of starting all over anew (even with a better website) made me a little ill.

But now I have it, 5 years of data saved on my little mac and backed up to my backup site (now I'm paranoid!).

leendert, you rock, thank you so much, you are my best friend forever, I owe you a (case of) beer.

If anyone needs me, I'll be playing around on kickrunner and runningahead.com.

Happy running everyone!

FYI FOR THOSE RUNNING ON AN INTEL MAC:

The cgi format will not open with MS Office Excel. If you want it in excel, open it in Word, save as text, then import to excel.
