Wow. That video clip looked like fun. The Masters just dipped in under 4:47 for the mile. Hmmmm. Makes me wonder............That's about 72 seconds / lap pace. Tough but not impossible. We should have a race like that! Winner gets a car from SS.

I hear the post-race is a blast... hehe. Merc, you can run 4:47 with your eyes closed, go for it! I'm just not sure there's much else to do (read: eat) there ...

Hello Mtl Runners,

After an 18-month hiatus, I'm planning to get running again. Instead of the usual Ottawa-Québec-crappy Festival de la Santé marathon threesome, I'm thinking about something different to boost my motivation for 2008. Has anyone had experience with the Marathon Tour service ? If so, I'd appreciate your input. Any suggestions for interesting destinations is welcome.

TIA

BTW, I've been lurking on occasion and you seem to be a mighty fine bunch

.....welcome back back..... 18 months off! I'm impressed ..... I've never run Quebec (gag does that one) so I can't comment, Ottawa is well organised... but boring and montreal is just the worst marthon i've ever ran on all levels .... so when you say Marathon Tour sevice is this some sort of organised service that takes you to various far flung races? or ...... are you looking for some suggestions on alternatives for 2008... maybe just across the border? if thats the case the mighty fine folk here will gladly give you the 411 on some of the other stuff around here..

Welcome on board!

Unlike Grommt with his preferences of nature runs, I prefer road races. Nice big social, and the potential for personal bests. The following is from Runner's World mag as the top marathons to run.

1. London Marathon, April
2. Berlin Marathon, September
3= New York City Marathon, November
3= Chicago Marathon, October
5. Boston Marathon, April
6. Stockholm Marathon, June
7. Rotterdam Marathon, April
8. Paris Marathon, April
9. Honolulu Marathon, December
10. Amsterdam Marathon, October

Are marathons what you're looking to run?

Ran my first trail run on Mont Royal this morning.
I found myself going over little bridges and end up just beside the outlook near the chalet facing the south side of the city. Made my way to the antennae and headed back down. Really tough. How does Roly and Grommit do it?

So TB you should ask Gro to bring you on his Special loop on the trails just bring yourself a nice helmet and some Knee, elbow and hand protector's. You shouldn't get to badly banged up. Oh and some goggles to protect your eyes against those branches that whip back at you.

So basically, TB, you should show up looking like this :

Now let's rate them based on food... I mean there are variations on the 26 some-odd miles but it's what food (and how tasty) is in you for those 26 miles that really counts, right?

I think we should rate Paris right up there based on the pics TB brought back...

Hey Grolies and team ... we need a date for our next outing and I want you all there! Give me something that works with you before the end of the month. We can do either Hurley's, Chinese, or your suggestion.

Here are my suggestions ... who can make it?

Tues June 26 or Wed June 27, 7:30pm
<HR>

HELLOOOO!!!

Anyone interested? I have a life outside CR (well not much of one) and need to plan ... For me, Tues June 26 works better. If neither Groly can show up, we can choose another date in July. Let me know by Sunday, June 24, please, with your preference ... Hurley's, Chinese, or another suggestion.

I should be able to make it the 26th! I like Hurley's, but whatever everyone decides..

I ran the last two nights.. Last night with Hill repeats, and I think I am getting in better shape.. I want to run Lake Brome this weekend.

Hi, I don't mind either one of the dates, I am on vacation next week so I'll be free when you are!

Truxx, you're on fire! I wish I could've gone to Lac Brome this weekend, I had a lovely time last year with Merc and TB. But I'm going to Chicoutimi for the weekend. I tried to find a race in that area but I could'nt. Have fun at Brome
