Re: Montreal "Realm of the Mount Royal trail runners"
oh joy, oh joy...had the mountain almost to myself left the maa at 5ish...cap, jacket, shorts..not cold ...up the snake, olmsted road was wet so it was soft as foam...one loop in the fog, at the top, more fog...down, very quiet, no action at the lake. The gulls all hunkered down with their heads under their wings...kept going to the statue, stopped, changed the tunes, got acquainted with a retriever pup (friendly owner) and waddled back up, body protesting. Snake and down...saw some runners from the maa...some rushing back out to the football game tonight.

The best run in a long time, how the leg will be in the morning..dunno...but for now I still have a silly grin plastered on my face.

Anyone else run in the rain ?

Bonne fin de semaine everyone

Grommie darling ... we'll be thinking of you this weekend as we do nothing but eat and sleep and rest and relax. Good luck to you and your crew! We're all looking forward to the RR but slow down a bit to let Roly keep up with you at the end, you know, for his ego.

group hug

Sally

So who's going to TO this weekend? I have an extra suitcase you can bring so you can pack it full of Dim Sum from the Dim Sum festival they are having this weekend...

Anybody? Anybody?

We were supposed to go but my son has a little cold which is not good for my mum ... boo hoo, all that dim sum ...

DR: Yes, I love that suit too! I almost bought one like that in electric blue but opted for the less expensive one (only $70). Now I just swim in a plain black Tyr polyester one that has my tri team name on it. But I don't race ...

Re: Montreal "Realm of the Mount Royal trail runners"
SS: ohhh sorry about your not going to TO (because of your son's cold). How is your mom doing?

About the swim suit (again...), I'm partial to purple and I like the fit of Speedo better than TYR although I have one that I wear very occasionally and randomly. I prefer the Speedo Endurance (polyester) with the thin straps and fly back, I have 3 of those and we get it cheaper through the team!

Sadly, I used to have a purple bathing suit, but unfortunately, I went to Decarie Hot Dog once, had a poutine (wearing the bathing suit under my clothes with the intention of going swimming after), crossed the street, had dessert (new pastry place!!!) then headed to the pool. In the locker room I realized that I had busted out of my bathing suit around the butt area. I swear, it's a true story. That was one expensive poutine (had to replace the bathing suit).

Oh ya... back to running. Looks like it's quite cool out there, even in the US... perfect for Team Grommit... Go gro, go! Bring back the mud!

What? A Dim Sum festival in TO? Wow.

All the best to Gro for is little walk in the mountain.

DR: choose Speedo over Tyr, My wife says that they are not wearing out as fast.

BTW, my marathon training is doing so so. Well, I don't take this marathon seriously, because it's not a serious marathon, so I skip days here and there.

Watch it, you're starting to train just like me ... soon it'll be skipping weeks, then months ...

Re: Montreal "Realm of the Mount Royal trail runners"
Gag: just make sure you don't train like me and skip the running altogether in favour of the swim!

Went to officiate a Beer Mile last night after dark, ****, i am too old for this stuff... It started way past my bed time, and I was nauseous before I even got there... Here's one game that favours older people, more experienced drinkers! Though some women were still running 90s laps at the end, and the first guy finished in a few hairs before 8:25. WTF.

I'm too old for this!

How's the Team doin'?

Re: Montreal "Realm of the Mount Royal trail runners"
Had the pleasure of running RG's company in our long run. We were a group of 5 this morning and the pace was comfortable to engage stimulating conversion as what the proper attire for the Medoc marathon should be. Gosh, RG, I've never seen anyone train so hard just be drunk. You're really earning it! Our thoughts drifted to our fearless heroes in Vermont were doing. There was a, "salon des coureurs" at the F1 track today. A converted bus with manequins displaying the current fashions. An easy run overall despite the hot weather.

.........well, we all survived!...... one hellava weekend, spectacular weather, beautiful course..... the short race report: ran a 24 hour pace for the first 78 miles, at which point the wheels fell off totally..... walked it in from there 22 miles of hills through the night! Took discomfort to a whole new level, met a bear, made new friends..... and now I can't move.... never mind walk! I may sleep on the ground floor..... can't do stairs head-on/sideways.... up or down!

27 hours 12 minutes........ mind bending... or what?

Thankyou crew!!!! I really couldn't have done it without you !!!!

I'm off to bed

grommit

the experiment is toast

Roly your were awesome!!

and now I'm going to bed!
