Re: Protein drinks/shakes
I was the same way, I need more protein in my diet as well and I tried Myoplex in Vanilla. It was horrible!!
I then started drinking SlimFasts, Optima with High Protein in chocolate....the problem with that one is, it tastes great, but not enough protein.

I then went to GNC, who have a 30 days money back gaurantee, and they told me to try Optima, Whey protein shake in chocolate, and if I didn't like it I could return it even if its open. But it tastes great...with milk its like a chocolate milkshake. I suggest you try that, what do you have to lose? You could return it if you don't like it, and its not that expensive either.

Re: Protein drinks/shakes
Have you ever tried Isagenix Shakes? The chocolate is great and if you want to add even more protein they have a flavorless powder that you can add. They also have bars - but they are meal replacements - not post work-out bars so watch their calories. A regular shake has 18g of protein - but more importantly it tastes great!!
Contact me if you want to know more!

Re: Protein drinks/shakes
Hello

I have never been a fan of drinking my meals but being a very busy single person leaves you with little time or wants for cooking meals. Lets face it if you are on your own cooking for one is not fun and eggs on toast looses its charm really fast. Enter the protein drink?

I used protein supplements a few years back and then quit for a while, that?s when I realized how important protein intake is for a woman. It defiantly helps keep the weight off. Anyway enough Blah, blah, blah? you want to know what works. Well I?m no expert but I can tell you that no matter what product I?ve tried they have all helped. I have recently discovered the joys of natural protein (no sweetener, no flavour). Yes I know your first thought is ewe gross. The guys a GNC cringe every time I ask for it.

I like the natural because you can create your own flavour and control the amount of sweetness. I just hate opening up a container of protein and smelling chemical strawberries and I defiantly do not dig artificial sweeteners. Unlike the natural, if you buy a flavour that you just can?t stand at least you are not committed to drinking that yuck for 2 weeks to 30 days. You can have fun with the natural by adding yoghurt, fruit and a sweetener of your choice. I am a variety girl so this is great? you get to change it up.

So here is my current fave?

1 scoop of ISO-PRO Low Carb Natural Protein Drink Mix (35g of protein), it has all the best ingredients.
2-3 Tablespoons of Milo or Ovaltine
1 Cup of milk, milk fat percentage of your choice
When mixed in a shake maker or blender can you say mmm? Wendy?s Frosty.
It also mixes up great in a shaker.

If you?re lazy/busy like me I make the industrial size that way I?m good to go for a few days at a time
6 cups milk, 6 scoops protein, 2 scoops milo/ovaletine using the protein scoop, in a 1.5 litre jug.
This drink is not too sweet, too chocolate, its mmm malty good!

Cheers

Re: Protein drinks/shakes
Oh boy, speaking of great drinks! I know of the most delicious drink you could imagine, like divine juice, and so full of antioxidants. It's not a protein drink, but super nutritive. People get lots of health benefits from it - more on the nutritional side than on the protein side. It's called g-3 because it's made of four fruits that you rarely see. if you want to find out about it, go to www.mysuperfruit.com/minda and take the tour. It is perfect for a hard working person who doesn't have lots of time to fix fancy foods, etc. and still get all the nutrition you could dream of.

Re: Protein drinks/shakes
I started drinking protein shakes for breakfast and its not that great, but I have started mixing it with strawberries and making it with milk 2% instead of whole. Not to bad its okay. Dieting is discpline, a lifestyle change. I know that this is what I have to do others can eat regular food, where I have to drink shakes for breakfast and have protein bars etc. Best of luck to all of you whatever you find that works for you. To each his own.

I love Pure Advantage's Whey Protein. It is one of the best tasting proteins available on the market place. I use to work for Whole Foods and Arizona Health Foods, so I have tried many different kinds of proteins. Pure Advantage uses no artificial sweetners, no aspartame, no sucrolose. They also have Pea Protein which is selling like crazy right now. Their Pea Protein is an excellent source of vegetarian protein that taste awesome. I like the vanilla the best. Pea protein is hard to find and expensive. pvnutrition.com has great prices on pea and whey protein, and other supplements.

I recommend Muscle Milk. Even just mixed with water it is pretty good. And certain health stores sell it already mixed which is great when you have no time like me. :)

I haven't seen anyone put in a good word for SHAKLEE Energizing Soy Protein. It is pure soy, contains ALL the essential amino acids, and can mix w/milk or purified water, whatever you prefer. They both taste great and really are energizing. I'm not an elite athlete, but I have trained in Tae Kwon Do since February '02, so I definitely know what an active body needs. You can only get SHAKLEE online or through an independent distributor (like me) www.shaklee.net

Re: Protein drinks/shakes
Hello, I know of several protein shakes that taste really good. The formula for adding weight or strength while working out or excersising is 1-2 grams of protein per pound of body weight per day, 1 ounce of water per pound of body weight per day. Check these out, they are all good tasting and quality.
