Re: Would You Like to See the Coolrunning Log Features?

Would you kindly stop cutting and pasting the exact same message in every thread. That is called SPAM. We are intelligent enough to read. We almost have your spiel memorized by now.

Give us real answers that you are really doing something instead of insulting our intelligence.

Re: Coolrunning running log

Re: so where do I find my Cool Running log?

http://www.coolrunning.com/cgi-bin/log/display.cgi?u=myusername;s=coolrun

Substitute your username in the address where it says "myusername" and delete the ";s=coolrun".

Thank You Janinsanfran!!!!!!! I had a lot of memories that I though were gone forever. Interestingly, I was able to use the old log and update my weekend runs before exporting. I wonder if this portal to the glorious past will remain viable???

You can use the old "Tools" to export your log.

Re: Would You Like to See the Coolrunning Log Features?
I don't have that much stored, but running has become a passion of mine..and with three small children around I don't have time to "play" around to find my log. I can't even get into the active calendar, much less find out if anything was lost. Any suggestions as to how I can see the calendar?

Please let me know if I can help you with your lost data. There shouldn't be any data lost in the transition.

Re: Would You Like to See the Coolrunning Log Features?

I keep seeing posts from Active about how hard you have worked and yadda yadda.

Ya know . . . there is a lot more to a database conversion than just not losing the data. The data has to make sense post conversion. Anybody can take a few thousand records and dump the data willy-nilly into a free form Notes field. This is a really poor conversion job. For example, I only see 30 or so records in my database from Sept thru Dec. There should be twice as many during that time period. Also, nearly every run is categorized as Incomplete.

Did your team perform this conversion internally or did you hire a consultant to do the job? Did your conversion team setup a test conversion site and thoroughly test the procedures? If so, did your team even look at the results? Did you communicate with anyone at CoolRunning to verify the results? What procedures did you use to verify the conversion? Did you even consider having some of the CoolRunning members look at and critique the test results? And, most importantly, don't you have a rollback procedure?

If you did hire an external consultant to run the conversion, please don't tell me they are getting ready to convert my bank next week. If so, I may feel better keeping my money under my mattress.

Re: Would You Like to See the Coolrunning Log Features?

The coolrunning log was cool. The active log is not cool. I have used the coolrunning log for several years and I have never had one bit of trouble with it. I am afraid that a daily visit to coolrunning will become a thing of the past for many of your members. Too bad - I don't think there was a need to move and change coolrunning - at least from your members' perspective. If you were to make the log look and work the same, I think that would solve the problem for most of your unhappy campers.

Re: Would You Like to See the Coolrunning Log Features?

I agree that there are growing pains when a new interface is presented. But the Active log interface is not user friendly period for a runner. We Coolrunners were that Runners. Active supports many other types of workouts. There inlies the disconnect. Taking the emotions out of the transition the active log is not intuitive for a runner to log and track workouts and track shoes as a single entry. Whay do you think coolrunning had so many users. It was a great place for runners, active not so much.

After all the old coolrunners go find another place to post and manage the community should be small enough for the old coolrunning site to support.

Re: Would You Like to See the Coolrunning Log Features?
Yes, if they do it in the next couple of days, otherwise it won't matter to me because I'm not going to hang around and wait for them to add back in all the capabilities that CoolRunning had. I'll be tracking my runs via Excel.

Yes.

But they won't.

What, they should change to please us?

By the way did you know that this question is possibly answered? It is very much like Schrodinger's cat, with an answer that either exists or it does not.

Re: Would You Like to See the Coolrunning Log Features?

I am stunned. I finally found my running log after four different trips to active. On coolrunning, all I had to click was (drum roll please): "running log." On active, I have to go to active trainer, then calendar. Calendar??? Who thinks of these names? Most of my old info is missing - the important stuff all of you are missing, like average and max HR, shoe mileage, weather....

Thank goodness I found both runningahead.com and running2win.com last week. Eric and Mike (respectively) transferred my coolrunning log to their sites, the same day I made the request. I've been logging my runs into both sites, playing around with them, learning their features and finding navigation to be very intuitive on both. Not at all like this active garbage. I'll choose one log or the other for 2008.

That is, if I can't have my old coolrunning log back...

Re: Would You Like to See the Coolrunning Log Features?

Boy am I tired of seeing that same cut and paste answer, Sara.

My data has disappeared into the ether for now, and I can't get it back from CR since I don't know my password. Stupid me.

But apart from that, I played around quite a bit with the active log and it's simply awful...that's after you even get there, and log in again. I spent just a few minutes at Runningahead and it's much more intuitive and useful. I'm sure there are good logs out there. If and when you get things fixed you will have already lost a lot of people.

Arla

Re: Would You Like to See the Coolrunning Log Features?

BYE BYE Active trainer. With the post from mum2girls I went and looked at those 2 sites (OH ACTIVE if you want to see how bad you messed up go look at those home pages, we are now Coolrunning refugees) I also found the post to go get my old data from coolrunning the way we used to. I also was abel to post several days of scores before I did, so it was current. Now I have the downloaded log to send to the other sites. Time will tell which one is best

You keep your running log on a computer?
It blows my mind that people would trust their precious running/racing data from years past to an on-line, Internet site, no matter who runs it (I certainly wouldn't put it even on my own computer say, in a document or excel file). Have you never experienced a hard drive failure? No, you have to store anything that you can't afford to lose the same way people did 3,000 years ago: on paper. That reminds me to go to Amazon right now and order my 2008 Runners Log and Calendar.
