Illinois Runners

I'm not sure what happened, but I cannot find our old thread. It must be out somewhere in cyberspace. How is everyone's running this summer. I've had a great summer so far, despite some warmer temperatures. No races on the horizon and the last one I did was the Downers Grove 10 Miler on 6/24. I'm toying with the idea of the Chicago Distance Classic (1/2) but not sure I want to deal with the crowd. Anyone done that race before?

Hope you're all doing well, both up and downstate!

Craig

Hi Comet!

My Spring was fantastic!! I had a great training experience for, and PR'd the Green Bay Half Marathon! I then continued the running and PR'd the Ridge Run 10K

After that I took a break and started Marathon training and within 3 weeks of Marathon training we went to Florida for 13 day. Hmmmm... I must have vacationed just a bit too much because I am having a tough time getting back into the groove. I had a much better workout today, which was a big confidence booster.... woo hooo.

I am doing the Chicago Distance Classic though, I'm hoping to do it as a pace run for my Marathon training....

Hope to see you out there in the multitudes of peeps!!!

Hi All! (bump)

I think I'm at the breaking point of my marathon training. My last long run for Chicago is Sunday, and Chicago is my last long run for Marine Corps. That being said.....I'm one sore, tired, crabby woman!!

And would you believe I'm glad the warm weather came back?!
Add "crazy" to the list....

Hope you guys are well! Your favourite Hoosier, janice

Thanks for the luck, the crystal lake 1/2 was on 9/9 and I beat my June 1/2 time by 14 minutes. I guess I'm in better shape. The race was a lot of fun and I may do it again next year. Now onward to the marathon.

Crystal Lake is a great event, although that long stretch of road with hills on both ends really psyches me out! What makes it even worse is that you have to travel it twice!

Good luck to all the Chicago Marathonners!

Is it insane for me to pray that the forcast will change overnight? The heat may be dangerous.
O well, this is why only 4% of the population run marathons!

Thnx Comet...I think next year I'll ditch the fulls for halfs. It's just crazy with school, work, kids, training.....

Take care, Evrybdy! Janice

Hi Illini! I'm a newbie in the SW Chicago burbs (Joliet area). I finished C25K last week and am moving on to OHR. I've been hanging out in the Newbie Cafe, but I didn't realize this "Neighborhood" discussion forum was here. Just thought I'd pop in and say hello now that I've found it.

Looks like a lot of experienced runners here. Anyone still doing 5Ks amongst the group? I'm registered for my first this Saturday in Morris and I'm really looking forward to it.

Does anyone know anything about the rockford marathon? It's new for next year.
