Not sure if this is the right forum, but here goes.
We are excited to be adding a new race in my home town (Rocky Mount, NC) this December called the Tar River Half Marathon.
The course begins by winding through the shady streets of some of Rocky Mount’s oldest and most scenic neighborhoods. Runners will pass by charming homes, the City Lake fountain, Sunset Park, and even the local Farmers Market before the course enters into the city’s green ways.
The greenways are shaded and paved. For the most part you run beside and over the Tar River on the trail portion. We have limited traffic control in Rocky Mount, but are lucky to have a great greenway so we could still create a 13.1 mile route.
The race is on December 8th. This is a great chance to take advantage of your fall marathon training and get in another race. It is low cost, easily reached from most NC cities. It is also only 1 hour and 45 minutes down I-95 from Richmond.
I have run on the majority of that course before and it will make a great 1/2 marathon. There are some pretty cool pedestrian bridges to cross.
I am looking forward to this event!
Just wanted to share an update on this race. It now has several sponsors including a title sponsor, so the name has changed. The race is now. . .
"Carolina State Bank Half Marathon"
The course is certified now, and they have added in a 5k and 1 mile fun run, and 100 yard kids dash. The race starts at a local park complete with train rides, play ground and a carousel for kids. It is really setting up to be a great family event.
Rocky Mount is minutes off of 95. This is a great race to run after your fall marathon.

I actually just saw this race online today and am considering it. It's only about an hour from home, so it would be perfect.
Anyone out there doing the Neuse River Bridge 5/10k this weekend in New Bern? I'll be there for the 10k for the first time.
