Birmingham, AL

Hi everyone!
I have been living in birmingham for about 6 months now but only lived an hour from here before! I am wanting to start running but I know I am going to need lots of advice from experienced runners! I live a few miles from John Carroll High School and was wondering if anyone had any good places to run or just any advice in general. The only problem I have as a new runner is that i work night shift so I am unsure of when to run(when i get off in the morning or when i wake up in the afternoons? Well I will quit rambling and any tips, advice, etc is very much appreciated!

The Lakeshore Trail is a good spot - it starts by Cameras Brookwood in the Brookwood Mall parking lot and ends at Green Springs. It's about 2.5 miles long.

Also, join the Birmingham Track Club. They do 3, 5, and 8 mile runs every Wednesday night at 5:30pm from the Trak Shak in Homewood. http://birminghamtrackclub.com/[/URL" target="_blank">

They also have group runs several times a week early in the morning or in the evening.

You might want to also check out the TrakShack in Homewood. They might be able to hook you up with some routes, ect.
