Great advice Guys,
I did buy some new shoes this week, some Keyano's ($135.00 worth) and ran in them for the first time today. They felt great. I had not run since last Sunday taking 6 days off. I went out with my 6 y/o daughter who rode her little Strawberry Shortcake bike along side me and had a great run on an asphault bike trail here in Florida, not to mention some good Father/Daughter time. She was the biking machine and I was the running machine.
The bike path was all flat and I did a slow 6 miles. Stretched really good before the run, and there was no pain to speak of during it. I am icing right now as I type this just to be on the safe side.
In addition to the shoes I also bought a TP footballer roller which I am using on my calves (man does that thing cause some pain) but am hoping that will help. My half Marathon is on the 18th of Feb, and I am going to cut out the hills for the most part between now and then. The trail area I am running in is awesome, but the PT guy told me to lay off the hills for now and that is a very hilly area. I am not going to break any speed records on the half, just want to finish it and then will think about doing the Marine Corps Full Marathon in the Fall. For the half, I am hoping just to run a 10:00 to 10:40 or so pace. Will have to see how it goes.
