Numbness in foot

This isn't really getting in the way of my running and I'm not too worried about it, I'm just curious...Lately my left foot has been getting completely numb towards the end of my run. I've been running on the same track (indoors) for months and I haven't changed shoes or anything. Any ideas why this is happening?

Re: Numbness in foot
sometimes it can be how they are laced but that should have shown up from the first time you wore them.

It can be a few things. I would also consider trying a shoe that is a 1/2 size larger, because as you are running, your feet are swelling, which is why it is occurring towards the ends of your runs.

do you change directions on the track to balance it out? i don't know that this would create numbness but thinking if you've done everything right otherwise, maybe something's getting slightly stressed in one direction, culminating in the numb reaction.

just a thought.

Yeah, I only run in one direction because I like running on the inner-most lane and usually other people are there, so I can't change directions...But thanks for the tips and I'll see if it continues, and maybe try getting new shoes.

It's very possible your IT band at your knee is irritating the peroneal nerve, which runs from the knee to the outside of your foot, then to your toes. I've had this happen. Running one direction on a track, especially an indoor track, will absolutely contribute to ITB problems. Change directions! New shoes most likely won't help. You may be in for worse problems if you continue on your present course.
