posterior shin splints

I'm recovering from severe posterior shin splints (inside of lower legs). I was wondering if anyone else had this problem and how they recovered.

Also, I have very flat feet and was wondering if anyone had used custom orthotics. Are they worth it?

Got it when I first started the C25K. Ouch! It was frustrating because I wanted to run and couldn't. The only thing that helped me was rest, ice and ibuprophen. I had the desire to run, but my body was saying 'no'. It took awhile to ease into longer distances. If possible try cross-training while you're recovering. How are your shoes? Are they old? You may need to get new ones too.
