Painful calves after 10 mins

Hi,

I'm doing the couch-to-5k program, and have got to week six where i'm required to run for 20 minutes on one day. All was going well until after about 10 minnutes of jogging when my calves began to hurt, feeling like they were going to pop! I had to stop running and walk for a couple of minutes, and started jogging again, this time it was painful, but i could put up with it. but after stretching down at the end my legs feel fine again, and i have no stiffness the next day.

Its really frustrating, because the rest of me is doing well, i'm not out of breath when running, its just my calves stopping me. Is there anything i can do to prevent this happening, cos i really want to get into running for more than 10 minutes at a time.

any advice greatfully appreciated.

Gemma

Up your potassium. MAke sure you're well hydrated and stretch about a mile into your run.. do a good good 25 second stretch 3 times prefferrably with three or four different poses that focus your calf muscles and hamstrings.
