Top of my quad?

I have pain. It is at the top of my leg. It feels like the top of my quad. If you are sitting down, lean over on your left butt cheek. then lift your right knee...it's that muscle right there that is holding up your knee. The very top part where the leg and pelvis meet is what i have injured.

I think it is just a muscle pull. I'm planning on resting it for a week or two and then running again after that.

Somehow I think I would feel better if I could get some specific info.
Does anybody know what that body part is called? Does anybody have experience with this injury? I have not found anything written about this problem but I cant be the only one. Thanks for your help!

This is probably a hip flexor injury. Rest is best for muscle tears, followed by gentle stretching. Massage may also help to break up scar tissue as you heal. When you resume running, you will want to stay away from speed workouts for a while... until you can run completely without pain.
