Possible pulled muscle??
I have only just started running, like a week ago on the C25K program. I know its important to take it slow etc etc. and I have been. So yesterday, I stretched and walked some before running and I was probably 15 mins into the program when I felt a slight pull in my calf. I stopped running immediately and it got tight straight awyay. I kept walking and it felt fine so I tried light running again and it hurt so I stopped. Unfortunately I was a fair way from my car, so I had to walk back another mile on this sore leg. I also had to take my wife to the airport when I got home then pick up my kids etc, so I couldn't ice it until hours later.
Today it is sore and I have no strength in it as well as hurting if I try to massage it. However, as the day has gone on, my hamstring on the same leg feels really tight too. Not just sore but really tight. Given that it is only in that leg (my other leg is fine) I am wondering if it has something to do with the calf? Anyone know?
Also, assuming the calf is a pulled/torn muscle (but not too bad) how long do I give it before I run again? 1 week? 2 weeks? I had a torn quad muscle years ago (which felt much worse than this) and I thought it was mended after a week, so I went for a run and 5 minutes after I started to run I did it again. So obviously it hadn't healed properly. But how do you know?
