should I see a podiatrist?

I'm getting over tendonitis in my right foot and the healing has been slow-going. I've had to wear one of those "attractive" post-op shoes for 6 weeks now, but my doc doesn't seem too concerned. I already have serious issues with shin splints (generally controlled by good foot wear), and with this trip down tendonitis lane I figure I should pay a visit to a podiatrist for better foot equipment. Is this a good plan, or am I just overreacting?

Where did you get your shoes? Are they from a specialty running store, or not? If so, take them back and get shoes that work, make sure they do video analysis on your running. This should assure that you have the right shoes and will help prevent injuries in the future. If not, the wrong running shoe can cause injuries. You might want to go to a specialty running store and get the right shoe. It probably will clear up your problems. If you continue to have issues after getting the right running shoe for you, you might entertain going to a podiatrist.

I would definitely check back with the running store. I made the mistake of going with the same brand/style of Asics through three pairs (and many miles!) of shoes (without getting a recommendation from the pros), and by the third pair, shin splints were killing me and I was having a lot of pain problems.

So when I went back to the running store for a gait analysis, they found changes in my gait, and fitted me with an entirely new shoe. It's worked wonders.

Hope that helps. Good luck!!
