The article mentioned she had been to a party. I wonder if she drank alcohol which could have adversely reacted with the high levels of methyl salicylate...

I'm thinking just the higher levels of methyl salicylate might not have killed her, but the possible alcohol (article does not say she actually had alcohol) might have reacted. Who knows, she may have had some other underlying condition that caused her body to not properly process the drug and excrete it. Methyl salicylate is basically aspirin. Aspirin and alcohol is not a good mix, despite what people say about taking vitamin I and chasing it with a brew

That would an imprudent balance.
Running competetively and drinking alot, and then covering up pain with pounds of anti-inflammatory cream(s).
