Entire left leg hurting...

Okay, a new one (it sure is getting frustrating being hurt all the time).

My entire left leg hurts. It starts in my left glute and runs down the leg. Behind my knee is really sore (I assume a strained MCL) and now my shin aches too. Specifically, the inside of my left tibia is really tender. I can feel a large swollen spot right on the tibia (it's not in the large calf muscle).

I got xrays last night because the pain is severe enough that I suspected a fracture. The xrays did not show fracture.

Any thoughts?

I had similar symptoms a couple of years ago where the pain radiated up and down my right leg. I also developed a knot on the left inside of my tibia. X-rays did not confirm what an MRI did which was a stress fracture. I also injured the muscles in that area of my leg. I did it with the "Terrible Too's" ( I think that is what it is called), meaning way too much distance way too soon. I took time off but did not get well until I dedicated myself to physical therapy. I still have the knot and have to keep my calf and soleus muscles well stretched. I also do to taps and toe/heel raises occasionally. Good Luck!

I had similar pain and was diagnosed with piriformis syndrome. The piriformis is a muscle in your butt - not exactly sure what it does. I also have a weak gluteus medius (sp?).
I have to do lots of stretching and daily exercises ordered by a exercise rehab specialist.
I am assuming this is an imbalance problem but no-one has ever told me that.
Good luck with your diagnosis.
